I don't know if any of you guys saw this or heard about it, but on Saturday night, with the Sox up 1 run in the 9th inning, Bobby Jenks threw a pitch behind Ian Kinsler. There had been White Sox getting hit by Rangers pitchers the whole weekend, so the home plate umpire issued a warning after Jenks' pitch. This sent Hawk into a fury. He basically called it bullcrap and said the umpire had no clue what was going on. Of course, Stone, being the all-knowing baseball genius he is, agreed with Hawk and said it would make no sense for Jenks to be throwing at a hitter intentionally in the 9th inning of a 1 run game. Well, Hawk and Stoney....looks like you guys were wrong.

Both of them underestimated how ignorant Jenks is.

On a side note, I feel bad for Stoney having to sit in the booth with that homer moron and not get in a fight with him every night.

lol..I caught that end part of the game..Ive seen Hawk go nuts before, but I never seen him go that ballistic..He went off and called the ump " idiotic " and "has no idea of whats going on and what hes doing" and there was a lot more and basically screaming the entire coupe of minutes. He's such a redneck piece of annoying garbage. He's the one whos idiotic and needs to be canned.

I didn't hear that tirade, but the one last year where Hawk was going off for 5 minutes about where Cubs should be placed on the bases after a strange play was classic.

I believe Len & Bob heard the continuing tirade from the adjacent booth, and kindly poked in to tell Hawk he was missing the rule that was being applied.

I can't remember the specifics anymore, but it was pretty funny.

I think that was two or three years ago, because Angel Pagan was the baserunner in question. Somebody hit a ball off the wall and as Pagan rounded second base he ran into the Sox' shortstop. This caused a bit of a logjam on the basepaths and Pagan wound up being tagged out, but it didn't count since there was interference. Hawk thought the call on the field should have been that it was a triple play.

Towards the bottom they start talking about the play

"I have never EVER heard of that in my entire career... comin' up through little league...."

Hawk was pissed because he thought they were going to call a triple play for some reason

Here's the play:

I still don't understand what the hell happened 2 years later but I remember Bob Brenley explained to Hawk what happened between innings and it all made sense to him after that rant.

I like Brenly, but I've never thought he was the brightest bulb. If he's got to explain that stuff to you, perhaps it's just time to retire there, old Hawkaroo.

And btw, nice work putting that into an avatar.

You can see the third base umpire point out the interference in that clip. As soon as that happened, the play was dead. Everything that happened afterwards, whether all three runners scored or all three runners were tagged out, was inconsequential. At the time of the interference, the bases were loaded with nobody out, so that is the way that play resumed.

The umpires let them play it out since stopping play in a baseball game at a situation like that isn't really all that practical. No whistles, no buzzers, etc.

I don't think the play is dead. Otherwise runners would be tripped on every extra base.

What is really funny about what happened the other night. Its not like Jenks was ejected or anything bad. The umpire issued warnings. Not really that big of a deal and certainly not anything to have a meltdown about.
