Jeff Samardzija continues to justify the completely irrational call-up to the majors.

He wasn't all that good last year, he hasn't been all that good as a pro in general. Yet he seems to have a stranglehold on a job.

he's got the football player mentality though, you can't teach that.

Oh well. Didn't expect to win this one anyway, but it would've been sweet if we pulled it out.

He's got to have a BB/9 around 5 with the Cubs, how has Lou not freaked out about that?

Can we get Mike Wuertz back to Chicago so they can irrationally hate him again and shove him out the door to distract us from the other guys?

If you give up 6 runs to the Giants (with the Giants offense that's just about a week's worth of offense) you deserve to lose.

Oh, send Shark back down to AAA.

If the Cubs go ahead and lose this, I fully expect a Cardinals rout. They must be paying Miles well.

Meh, who cares if the Cardinals win. We weren't supposed to win this one anyways, we didn't and now we've only won 4 of our last 5 games. As long as we keep playing decent baseball, the Cardinals will be no match for us.

Agreed. If the Cubs lose today and win tomorrow they will only be two games off their start last year, which isn't as bad as the naysayers hold it out to be.

Edit: I believe that's right. It would be 15-12 IIRC.

I was going to respond with some snarky post about how even teams like the Giants get 6 runs quite a few times during the course of the year, but they have only done it 4 times in the first 24 games this season before today. And yes, they are 4-0 when scoring more than 6 runs.
