I actually saw Montanez play in a minor league game earlier this year, the much-hyped Wieters vs. Price battle at Durham.

Link.

I guess you know the Orioles are having problems in the outfield when they end up platooning two failed Cubs prospects.

You know how I can tell Pie is no longer in the Cubs organization? A post referred to him as a "failed" prospect and there weren't immediately 17 responses saying that it's way premature to say he's failed and that it's Piniella's/Hendry's fault in any event.

The Orioles have managed to make the decision that makes the least sense here.

Want to give Pie a little more time? That's a reasonable option.

Want to bring Reimold up and give him his shot? Also reasonable

Want to forget all 3 of them and put Luke Scott back in LF? Ok.

Giving Montanez more at-bats at this point probably really isn't the answer though.

It's actually rather hilarious.

They should do that. That guy is obliterating the minors. If you're gonna put some sketchy guys in there and hope for the best, what difference would it make by calling up someone who has a 1.225 OPS at the moment. If he doesn't succeed, how much different would that be from Pie/Montanez not succeeding. At least Reimold at this point has the most upside and the O's would know if he needs more time and they can send him back down. At this point it can't hurt to exhaust all the options, and Reimold at this point seems to be the right choice, IMO. That guy is a beast, and he's not getting any younger. He's 25, give him a shot. If it doesn't work, send him back

I'm sure there's a beer league somewhere platooning Kevin Orie and Gary Scott.

Kevin Orie, man is that an almost obscure reference to this generation. I loved him for at least two games

Don't make me feel old. I seem to recall Gary Scott hitting a huge grand slam when I was about 14 and thinking he was going to be the greatest thing to hit the Cubs since Dawson.
