I thought this was great:

Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker doesn't need any extra incentive when he comes to Wrigley Field to take on his former team.

But Crane Kenney provided some anyway last January when the team chairman told an audience at the Cubs Convention that firing Baker and hiring Lou Piniella was the best thing to happen to the organization.

"If you think about the team that won in '07, does that team win with our former manager?" Kenney told the crowd. "Not a chance."

That is awesome. And probably true. We only won the division by one game, right? The Dusty/Lou divide would have more than made up for that.

Our last two games of the season were meaningless, so I think that means we were up 3 with 2 games left.

Geovany Soto would have ridden pine in favor of Jason Kendall. Murton probably would not have played as much in favor of Floyd and Jock.

Think that'd be enough for the Cubs to have missed the playoffs?
