I think Illinois just got screwed over by the refs again.

Good game from Denver.

Very similar to Game 1, just a couple things went in favor of Denver tonight that went the way of LA in Game 1. This thing has seven-game series written all over it. I think LA gets a split in Denver and the series heads back to LA tied at 2. At that point it's a best 2-of-3 series and if the Lakers can't hold home court, well, they don't deserve to go to the finals then.

Either way, should be entertaining since there isn't a lot in between the two teams.

One issue I have with Phil is why do you have both Odom and Gasol on the floor for the final play? You need a three and everyone knows it. Walton's not a 3-point shooter, but it's fine to have him inbound the ball since he's probably the best passer on the team. But that leaves Fisher and Bryant as 3-pointer shooters. Bryant's going to be double covered and Fisher can't hit a three to save his life. Odom's not a very good 3-point shooter and Gasol can't shoot at all. Meanwhile, you've got Ariza (who was 6-7 shooting and hit both 3's in the game) who is a career 47% 3-point shooter sitting on the bench.

So on the floor you've got two guys who can realistically get the ball, one will be covered closely and the other can't hit a shot. Either way, that's only two guys that Denver has to guard. Pau's not going to get the ball so you can leave him open. And Luke and Odom aren't likely to hit a shot so even if they manage to actually make one, you applaud them and head to OT. If you add Ariza, it gives you one more option to throw the ball in to.

Not the best of decisions from Phil.

omg wow, nuggets win despite the refs riding the lakers jocks the entire game.

The refs could have called easily another 8 fouls on the Lakers this game.

If the refs were on the Lakers' jocks the entire game, they would have called a foul on Carmelo for tripping Trevor Ariza after the jump ball with 15 seconds left. Instead, the refs made the correct call which was a no-call since Ariza slipped (and wasn't tripped by Carmelo).

That was better than any of MJs game winners except game 6 in 1998. What can I say other than I predicted that. It's amazing when superstars can come through like that. I could probably do that new out of every 300 attempts. Props LBG.

The Shot (89) was better, imo.

The lower body strength to make that shot is amazing.

Why didn't Orlando didn't guard the inbounds pass?

You either have to guard the inbounds pass - I would have done it with Dwight Howard or some other big guy - or you put the extra guy on LeBron. Have Hedo guard the basket and the other guy guard the three. But whoever was sort of guarding Williams inbounding the ball was basically in no mans land. He wasn't guarding Williams and he wasn't guarding LeBron. Didn't SVG watch what happened in Game 1 of the LA-Denver series?

So stupid.

I mean, maybe LeBron hits the shot anyway, but that was far from Orlando's best defense.

that shot was a hail mary. mj never put up a hail mary because he never put himself in a situation where he needed to take one.

there was one second on the clock, this wasn't a craig ehlo/bryon russell situation.

good point. jordan would have made scottie take that shot in this case.

no, it wasn't lebron's fault that it was such a wild-looking shot, he didn't have much time to get it off. but still, it was a hail mary nonetheless. the fact that he's one the great players in the league takes nothing away from the fact that it was a simple grab-and-chuck-it-near-the-hoop and outcome that could have happened to any nba player.

Saying this shot was totally badass doesn't necessarily have to mean discounting anything MJ did.

It probably was something like a 10 percent shot for LeBron considering the circumstances - 1 second, guy in his face, fadeaway 3 - but the fact is, he made it. And considering Cleveland was probably finished if he didn't make it, I'd say that's a pretty freaking huge shot.
