Cameron Maybin vs. Travis Snider vs. Adam Jones

All 3 are available in one of my leagues and I have an open spot due to a DL posting. I'd like to pick one of them up. So far Snider has been decent and Jones has been great, but it's only 3 games into the season or so. Which player do you guys think will have the highest upside this year?

Just a hunch with nothing to back it up, but my feeling is that Jones will likely be the best this year. Long-term I'd say probably Maybin or Snider (again just a hunch). I have all three of them on one of my teams (and I mean all three on the same team).

This year, it's Adam Jones. Jones has ML experience from last year and has the luxury of hitting between Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis. He'll get a lot of pitches to hit. He'll run a lot. He'll score a lot of the runs in front of the middle of the order.

Snyder and Maybin are at the bottom of their orders. I wouldn't expect much from Maybin this year. Snyder has a ton of power, but is currently stuck in the 9-hole in Toronto. If he's really good he could hit 6th, but until then Jones is a better option.

Jones this year. raw nailed it.

As for Dukes, I dropped him in every league except a keeper league. He was already dropped by other teams in other leagues and cleared waivers. I'm pretty sure if you drop him now when he's not hitting and not playing everyday, you'll be able to get him later. Just be the first to jump when he starts hitting and playing regularly.

Definitely Jones for this year and perhaps for the long term. Snider is going to be a liability average wise and so will Maybin. Snider could help you with power, Maybin could help you with steals, but Jones is going to probably do a little of both.

I have Lind and Snider on my team. If I was to drop one of them, which one would you guys consider dropping? Or would you recommend I keep them both?

Depends who you'd be dropping them for but for right now I'd keep Lind over Snider. Better place in the batting order, better batting average, better power, more experienced.

On a similar note...throw Elijah Dukes in there as well. I have Dukes but I'm considering dropping him for either Snider or Jones.

Dukes is better than either, but playing time is an issue since Jim Bowden was under the impression that the Nationals were playing in the softball beer league and thought that he could have a short CF. If you've got a deep bench, hold onto Dukes and I'm sure something will get worked out (or not), but if you need a reliable player (ie playing time), you're not going to lose a ton dropping him for Jones.

I picked up Maybin on a hunch, and now Maybin has been a real disappointment so far this season. I know his skillset is far superior, but he reminds me of Felix Pie for some reason. No statistical or physical comparison to come up with this, just a feeling.

I'm very close to dropping him, but I'm gonna let him dwell on the bench for another week and see how he does before I give him the boot and take Snider. Jones his hitting the ball well, but not producing very much at this point.
