Cubs interested in Lamb

The Cubs may look at signing veteran infielder Mike Lamb to a minor-league deal as security in case of an Aramis Ramirez injury. Milwaukee just released him.

 

I'm not interested unless it's a minor league deal.

I'd be fine with a minor league deal.

 

If Lamb can recapture his 06-07 numbers, he'd be a significant upgrade over Aaron Miles. If he repeats last year's awful numbers, he'd actually be a worse option than Miles.

Id take him. Gathrights nothing more than a set of legs. We already have 4 1/2 outfielders without him, so a corner infielder with some power would be a good bet. Then again, Dallas Mcpherson seems to have a much higher upside.

I'm all for picking up a 3B off the trash heap to play everyday at Iowa. It's just that Lamb is at best 3rd on my personal 3B trash heap list.

I wouldn't mind Lamb on a minor league deal. But I'm sure thats the only deal he could get right now. There's nothing wrong with having him in Iowa if there's a injury at 1b or 3rd.

The Cubs signing Lamb means the Cards can't and have him turn in a career year.

I'd take a minor league deal solely because we need someone to play back up 3b. Miles can't play there

After watching Miles "hit" on Monday, I much rather sign Mike Lamb and have him play third on days in which ARam needs a breather and Fontenot at 2nd the Fontenot at 3rd and Miles at 2nd.
