If the MLB gets rid of the territorial restrictions involving the Giants, it will happen in a blink of the eye. I'm sure the Giants will fight it.

 

The A's were going to move to Fremont partly because that was the closest they could get to San Jose while not entering Giants territory.

If MLB could get Peter Angelos to let up on the Orioles' territorial restrictions when the Expos were relocated, I think doing the same with the Giants wouldn't be too much of a challenge.

OK, I feel like and idiot for not getting this . . . but why is moving a team FARTHER away from San Francisco bad for the Giants?? The Coliseum is 17.5 miles away from AT&T Park, and San Jose is 47 miles away . . . What am I missing here???

Because the A's would be moving closer to the valley, where the real money is in the bay area.
