Apparently that cyst that was found the other day is far more serious than first expected. SportsCenter has broken the news that A-Rod will be out at minimum 10 weeks following surgery on his hip to remove that cyst.

Isn't it his brother reporting this?

I'm not saying its not true, but lets wait a bit before we can confirm this as fact.

Poor Yankees (not)

They're talking about it on Sportscenter right now.

Cyst in the hip. Where do guys inject steroids, anyway? I know, it's the but-cheek, but still, I've read of injections that get infected. So, I figure I can throw wild speculation out there.

General manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that Alex Rodriguez has a torn hip labrum and cyst, but will attempt to play through the injuries rather than undergo surgery.

Rodriguez's brother told reporters earlier in the day that Rodriguez would be out for 8-10 weeks following surgery, but the Journal News now reports that "the cyst was drained" and "they're trying rest and rehab." Rodriguez is definitely out for the World Baseball Classic and it seems unlikely that he'll be able to return without missing significant time, but certainly the possibility of avoiding surgery is good news for the Yankees if they're confident rest will do the trick. Stay tuned.

Well this keeps getting better and better. A torn hip labrum? And he's gonna play through it? How severe is a torn labrum in the hip for a hitter compared to the shoulder for a pitcher? Every time I hear "torn" or "tear" I assume the worst

He obviously developed the cyst because of the ROIDS, and he's now going to try rest and relaxation which is code for MORE ROIDS.

Im hearing that if the r and r doesnt fix it by May, he may need surgery, which could cost him the season. In this case, it could be the White Sox chance to move Old Man Konerko, and the Yanks can move Teixara to third. Adrian Beltre and Hank Blalock are other 3Bs whose teams have been unsuccesfully shopping and could finally get the chance. Recently aquired Orioles Ty Wiggington and Aubrey Huff could also be options when the team is mathamatically eliminated in early-mid June. Who knows, maybe The Natspos could see it as an opportunity to move Adam Dunn and stock the farm system, as they wont be going anywhere throughout the duration of Dunns contract. And of course theres always Garrett Atkins.

they wouldn't move teixeira to 3rd, and even if they did.. they'd just use swisher at 1st.
