This is great. Henry Rodriguez, Brant Brown, Jeff Blauser, empty seats.

One thing I've noticed watching this already is that Chippy keeps saying "we" when he refers to the Cubs. I don't remember that about him, but then, I didn't pay as much attention to the announcers as I do now. And besides, it was his first year with the team. It's not like he'd been part of the "we" for 20 years.

EDIT: LMAO, Kevin Orie.

That was a blast to watch! I can see why they scored that a hit but let me just say that even an average 3b makes that play. The salt in the wound is that it probably cost Kerry a K too since Reynolds then bunted.

That hookeroony was the most devastating thing ever. I can see why it shredded his arm, but damn that was fun stuff.

I think the dampness in the air certainly helped some of those pitches...

Missed the very beginning of the rebroadcast so I wanted to get up early and tape the entire game BUT I see the MLB Network got their schedule screwed up again. It was supposed to start at 7:30am (CST) but I'm still having to watch Randy Johnson when he was with the D'backs. I also noticed that MLB network doesn't give a contact number for programming on their website, so that people can complain...probably a smart move.

i'm still in awe of how deliciously filthy Kerry was back then

The final pitch of the game was probably the nastiest of all.

I like Dave Clark's at-bat in the top of the 8th. I've never seen a left-handed batter look so bad against a right-handed pitcher as Clark did on the last pitch of that at-bat.

it was a game that about 15,000 people saw live, but 50,000 will claim to have been at
i watched it live on WGN, in a bar with my at the time gf, we were talking about marriage, she wasnt happy about me being such a baseball nut, but i agreed to give up hockey for her....rewatching that ballgame was pretty painful for me, reminds me of a time when life was good, when i wasnt an angry drunk, when i was a nice person.

See there, I'm having one of them senior moments. In my mind, you're still on Addison st and not back down in North Carolina. Reality is highly overrated, no?

I had forgotten that Reynolds also threw a gem even if it was against a teriible lineup.

Grace's "hit" could also have been scored an error.

I hate Al Leiter with his "Steve Stone said it was a hit" BS. Why do you hate the Cubs so much?

This thread makes me want to hook up my VCR just to watch this game (don't ask me why I was recording it in the first place).

I can't wait to get a dish and drop this cable company. I was beginning to get over not havinng the NFL network, but now this is torture!

I remember watching the last inning or so. It was the sixth grade and I was riding the bus home from school. I was watching it with a small pocket TV that I snuck to school at the time. I didn't have the volume on so I didn't know he was K-ing a zillion guys. I just knew the Cubs were up and that's all that mattered.
