Because AL teams play 90% of their games against other AL teams and NL teams play 90% of their games against other NL teams. Schedules aren't of even strengths, either. A better record between two teams only shows how much that team dominated their own league (mostly their own division).

True, but in the NBA each conference doesn't have different rules. Also, I think their schedules are a little more balanced than in the MLB, no?

 

Correct. NBA teams play 52 games (63.4 percent) against teams from their own conference and 30 games (36.6 percent) against the other conference.

It is a great idea if it was the second or third criteria for hosting the WS.

 

1st should be best winning record

2nd If both are tied with #1 then best win/loss in playoffs.

3rd all-star game winner

Put me in the crowd that thinks the team with a better record should get HFA. It was stupid doing the alternating thing. Then they decided to do something that makes even less sense. It boggles my mind when people think the ASG deciding the HFA is a good thing. So someone who's team doesn't even make the playoffs can decide that the 83-79 team who won a weak division gets HFA over the 105-57 team who dominated baseball all year.
