Hoping for two of the three Big West teams (Fullerton and Irvine are most likely) to advance out of their brackets. Both should be favored to make the CWS since they're both top-5 teams. I'm pretty surprised to see Fullerton as the No. 2 overall seed and Irvine at No. 6 considering Irvine dominated the BW and won two of three at Fullerton.

The three bids make sense because Long Beach was under .500 for the year, Santa Barbara went 2-7 against the top three teams and UC Riverside went 3-6 against the top three teams and lost twice to UCD. If they sweep that series they finish at 14-10 in the BW (same as Cal Poly) and 35-18 overall (slightly worse than Poly).

And as much fun as Fresno State's run was last year, I'm hoping they get bounced right away since they're in Irvine's region.

You weren't the only one to think UCI got screwed: http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/college/?p=1292

• The Irvine Regional blows the Fort Worth Regional away. What an outrage that the Anteaters, who have been the best team in the nation all year long, have the strongest No. 2 seed (Virginia, which I pegged as a No. 1 seed), the best pitcher in the nation on the No. 3 seed (San Diego State), and the defending national champions (Fresno State). That’s horrible. Meanwhile, Fullerton gets Georgia Southern as its No. 2 seed? Horrible. The Irvine Regional is extremely unfair to both the Anteaters and, especially, the Cavaliers, who will face Strasburg in the opener.

Boston College and Texas are tied at 2 in the bottom of the 24th. Yes, 24th. They have been tied for 19 innings. They have been playing for nearly 8 hours.

And on to the 25th. One guy is 1 for 11 on the night. A pitcher for Texas pitched 13 innings in relief.

Mr. 1 for 11 is now 2 for 12 with an RBI for Texas. Texas up 3-2 going into the bottom of the 25th.

EDIT: And BC goes quietly in the 25th. Texas wins.

I don't think I've ever seen a team get 20 hits but only three runs before in my life.

With Cal Poly already being eliminated and Irvine losing today, not too good of a tournament so far for the BW.

Oh, and OMC, just being picky but there is no hyphen between UC and Irvine. There isn't one for any of the UC schools. Tons of people do this (I've seen the AP do it also) and it bugs the crap out of me. Just an FYI sort of thing.

Austin Wood threw 179 pitches in 13 innings of relief.

i was there. words can't describe how awesome that game was. wood threw about 12 innings of no hit ball. we only used three pitchers, which is pretty amazing and the ultimate anti-TLR.

Rebs up 9-3 in the 8th. Bring in our best pitcher. He gives up 6 runs to those stupid effing Hilltoppers and we end up losing a game we have no business losing. At least we play tomorrow. Stupid Rebels.

FSU leads Ohio State 32-0 in the 5th inning.

Maybe the buckeyes think this is considered a BCS competition?

They were complaining about a lack of exposure recently.

Looks like they got what they were asking for.

So in their 4 games this weekend, Ohio State gave up 71 RUNS

Fullerton advances but Irvine is three outs away from being bounced.

Mizzou went 0 for 2 against Western Kentucky, ugh. Good thing they saved Gibson, eh Cubbies75?

Who?

Wouldn't have mattered. This team wasn't a two seed anyways, just got generously seeded due to our Big 12 tourney run. Mizzou baseball always goes out quietly and this year is no different. You might disagree with me, but IMO we should be looking for a new head coach.
