My check is in the mail.

Thanks again for doing this for us

And I would like to be the first to trash talk in 2009 and say that this will be the year for the Fighting Quakers!

Posted

Let me be the first to say that this is going to be a long year for me.

I'll get that out to you very soon Juan. Thanks for renewing as always.

Is it still ok to contribute to NSBB instead or would you rather me send the $ for Matt, Justin, and Myself. Since they are STILL living at my house, I'll send it in one envelope.

I'll get mine mailed off tomorrow.

Do we have a back up plan for Chris' team?

We don't - is he definitely out? I had forgotten all about him.

Chris hasn't been on NSBB since August, and he didn't respond a couple of months ago when you asked everybody to post confirming that they plan to continue next year. That suggests to me that we need to assume he's gone and find a replacement.

Outshined One seems to be expressing some interest.

I emailed Chris through the Ripken website that NC provided and Chris quickly responded. He expressed interest in keeping the team, but that will be up to Juan at this point. I like Chris and really enjoyed his participation when he was around, but he has to be fully committed, IMO, if he wants to keep the team.

I told Chris it was time to send in payment in my email.

I'll be sending paymet for Matt, Justin and I in a couple days. I'll shoot you a pm when sent. Sorry, been a long week of work and haven't been able to get it out yet.

received Brian and Navin. Thanks!

btw, are liberty bells the only stamp option these days? Three of the four envelopes have that stamp and they are the same ones I have in my wallet.

Those are the forever stamps that are worth the current rate even if they were purchased at the previous rate. I'm still using forever stamps that I bought for 41 cents before the most recent increase.

That would explain it I guess since I almost never use stamps.

I don't use stamps that often myself (which is why I still have a bunch remaining from before the rate increase). I pay most of my bills electronically.

Mine is in the mail.

Welocome back!

BTW - Which team are you taking?

I am now the Tampa bay Rays previously known as the Draconian Empire

I like the name. I assume this means that you are still scouting for the Rays. If so anyone who is attracting interest of scouts in the Portland area?

Yeah, I just received my '09 contract today.

You'll have to go S. to Corvallis and Eugene for the elite players. Oregon State has the best kids with Jorge Reyes (RHP) and Ryan Ortiz (C/OF). Lane Comm. College has a decent player which is also in Eugene as Linn-Benton in Albany.

As far as HS kids, there isn't much Portland, there's a C at Lake Oswego and there is a college kid by the name of Rocky gale who is a C at Portland.

Btw, I spent a week in Portland in Nov. as I might have a job transfer and I loved it out there. Went down the coast from Cannon beach down to Reedsport. Of the communities around Portland, I took a liking to Troutdale just E. of the city as far as being close enough to the city without being in the City, I didn't see much of the stuff S. as far as Lake Oswego.

Yea, Portland is great. You get the four seasons, but they are moderated by the ocean. Fall/winter rains, but usually no bitter cold. When it does get hot in the summer, the humidity is low. The forest, mountains, and the coast are nearby. I am not a skier, but I have been told that Mount Hood is great for sking. Portland is still a small town that has grown up. Comfortable atmosphere. If you move to Troutdale beware of the fact that it is near the gorge. So in the winter the winds can be quite strong and there will be a good chance of ice storms each winter. Of course if you like windsurfing, the gorge is ideal.

No major league baseball team though. :( We do have AAA. And of course Boise swings through the area during the summer.
