wabasha31? Wow! Where you been?

I'm mostly a lurker now. I come on here for information, but I rarely post. Most of the posters from the old cubs espn boards have new names. I barely know who's who anymore.

Eh, post more instead of just lurking, I need someone here who agrees with me on everything....

stitch=BRS

jerseycubfan= goony

membersonlyjacket=cubbyrage "Koncak"(should make more of an occasional appearance once in awhile)

delroy lindo= V "Rumeal Robinson" (same rule to V as cubbyrage)

Instead of "getting caught up in a bidding war" for Tim Redding with a few other teams, the Rockies could turn their focus to Jason Marquis of the Cubs according to Tracy Ringolsby of the Rocky Mountain News (via Bleed Cubbie Blue).

Ringolsby points to the durability that Marquis has shown and his ERA of 2.51 in five career Coors Field appearances to explain the Rockies' interest. It'd also be fun to see Marquis at the plate in Denver, where he's posted a .704 OPS in 29 PA's as a hitter.

Marquis would likely be affordable for Colorado, since the Cubs "seem likely to eat roughly half" of the $9.9MM guaranteed to the righty in 2009.

The Mets have a similar strategy and would pursue Marquis if they can't sign Redding.

I can't believe that somebody hasn't jumped at Marquis for roughly 5-6MM for one year. It is really a decent contract.

I'd rather have Koyie Hill as my back up catcher than Brian Schneider.

Even if Soto goes down with an injury?

That wasn't in the equation. I don't feel we should have a catcher that won't get many games in the season for that much money.

Lee Hamilton (XM Radio) reported on Saturday afternoon that the Cubs could receive Jason Hirsh and another player for Marquis. XM Radio is the only source reporting Hirsh and another player could be involved.

Wasn't Hirsh a good prospect at one time? He's been hurt alot the last two years, but I still think he would be a pretty good return for Marquis. We could let him battle Marshall in spring training, and the loser could end up being the swing guy.
