  1. Zach McCormack, I believe.
  2. - BA Shortly before that was posted, I saw that Dail's name was no longer bolded in BA's draft database. I don't know if it means anything, but the same is now true for 23rd rounder Jeff Pruitt. His name is no longer in bold, either.
  3. minorleaguebaseball.com rosters have: Jeremy Papelbon to Iowa, again. Runey Davis to Boise.
  4. Little of column A. Little of column B.
  5. Simokaitis was traded to the Mariners last year. Don't know if he was released by the Mariners or was just a minor league free agent, but his only appearance in the minors this season is with Mesa. Per Nathan Baliva, he had a tryout as a pitcher in Peoria and, evidently, was good enough.
  6. Baseball America updated their draft database with the signings thus far. They show 23rd rounder Jeff Pruitt as being signed.
  7. I'm mostly a lurker now. I come on here for information, but I rarely post. Most of the posters from the old cubs espn boards have new names. I barely know who's who anymore.
  8. Meh. The Elias rankings don't always make sense. Just because a player is type A doesn't mean he had a great season. Marquis' ability to eat up innings may qualify him. An argument could be made that the baseball economy is headed towards a pitcher like that making eight figures. In that case, you'd be correct. For my money, I'd still want more. If Marquis is type A, I don't think the Cubs offer.
  9. Marquis as a type A free agent would be a bad thing. There is no way you'd offer him arbitration. He'd likely take it and get $10 million +. I understand your overall point, though. I've gotten the impression that Marquis would likely have to be moved for the Cubs to add a major piece.
  10. Baseball America has him listed as signed with a bonus of $906,000.
  11. Eyre actually has a $3.8M player option. I can't imagine him declining it considering his year, so, like Vance said, he will be back. The Cubs have a $1.2M team option on Ward. My guess is that Ward is back.
  12. LIES. Anybody know where this guy is pitching? We may not see him in rookie ball at all this year, more likely Instructs at the Mesa complex.
  13. According to BA's minor league rosters, Chris Robinson is back at Tennessee, and Carlos Rojas has taken his place at Iowa. Also, I just noticed that Matt Camp, Jonathan Mota and Alfred Joseph are on their Daytona roster.
  14. Agreed. Can't complain about Cotts and I'm not worried about losing Vasquez, but I didn't like saying good-bye to Aardsma. Also, erik, love the signature. I worked retail throughout college. I remember a sociology class where people were stating that humanity was inherently good. I disagreed.
  15. My guess is that this clears up 40-man space for Lilly, Ward, or Marquis, and Reyes will be re-signed to a minor league contract.
