Players are terrible when it comes to downing punts. They always try to do too much and end up getting a touchback. All they had to do was let the ball go out at the 3 without touching it.

It's a touchback because the bears carried it into the end zone. It's a screwy, nonsensical rule that allows the punting team to not advance the ball unless it results in a touchback

You'd have to be insane to let a ball you thought (or that even had a decent chance) of being a fumble go out of bounds (on defense)
