It looks like the DBacks need bullpen help. I wonder if they'd be interested in Hart, Wuertz, or someone like that? I have no confidence Hart will ever be a decent MLB reliever, and the Cubs have never shown any patience or belief in Mike Wuertz, so we may as well deal him before we lose him when he hits FA, as I wouldn't resign with the team when I became an FA if I were him. Or maybe they'd be interested in Gaudin if Lou and/or Hendry really are that disillusioned with him?

What are you looking to get in return from the D-Backs? Just curious. Would Chad Tracy (if healthy) be of interest?

For starters, anyone the Padres might want in the Peavy deal. Or Tracy would be a nice option for us, especially if Hendry can deal DLee.

Lyon might not be a bad signing at the right price.

Not a fan of his at all. Not a very good K/9, rather high H/9, and outside of 2007, he's shown a tendency to give up the longball.

He's more BABIP dependent because of his lower K rate, but he's been fine with HR rate aside from when he got hurt in '05. I'm not suggesting he be a staple of the bullpen, but we could probably do worse than bringing him in for a year to be a middle reliever.

and he'd likely fare even better with BABIP if we had a defensive stud in say, CF

Pass on Lyon...but wouldn't mind bringing back Juan Cruz for middle relief. But somebody is going overpay him because he has great stuff.

He is also a Type A free agent I believe, so he would cost us picks.

Yep. It's why I'm not high on the idea...but wouldn't complain. I've watched him out here in AZ...he's definitely gonna draw some cash on the FA market. I won't complain, but think money can be spent elsewhere. Bullpen $$ is typically a waste on the FA market if you ask me.
