Well the Bears won, but their playoff hopes took a crippling blow with Minnesota's win. Minnesota has now officially clinched a tiebreaker against us meaning we are 2 games out with 3 to play.

As for a potential WC spot, Atlanta lost today putting them at 8-5 with the Bears 7-6, but because the Bears lost to the Falcons, its the same situation. Of course Dallas is the team thats actually in the 6th seed at 8-4, if they lost and somehow the Bears/Falcons/Cowboys have a 3 way tie for the 6 seed, I'm not sure how that works out.

Well, at least their OC sucks as bad as our's.

please, put that apostrophe away before you hurt someone.

Huh, always thought that was the possessive. Turns out I'm wrong.

we have 3 significantly easier games ahead of us, though. if we win out, i think we're in.

Two weeks ago, I really liked how we ended our season. Now, not so much. New Orleans is on a roll, Houston's frisky, and Green Bay is still lurking. If we win next week, I'll feel a whole lot better about our chances.

Well if we go 3-0, Minnesota has to go 1-2 or worse for us to get the division.

You don't have to worry about us. That's going to be a beatdown.

Ahh...its possible. Even if the Cardinals clinch today (which they will), they will essentially be playing the Vikings for the 3 seed in the NFC, so its still something to play for. Also with the loss today ATL is going to be fighting for their lives the week after, and even if the Giants have clinched everything they are still a tough team, and if still alive the Vikings will have a lot of pressure on them.

The key is winning vs. NO this week and putting the pressure on Min

agreed, it will be an uphill battle and they'll probably crap the bed against the saints next week anyway---but i can dream.

Ok, so Dallas lost, meaning that this is how the race for the 6th playoff seed is:

Dallas 8-5

Atlanta 8-5

Washington 7-5* plays tonight

Philadelphia 7-5-1

Chicago 7-6

New Orleans 7-6

If these teams tie, the first tie breaker (on a 2 team tie) is H2H. Bears have beat Philly and lost to Atlanta and have to still play NO.

If its a 2 or 3 team tie, most likely the tie breaker will be Conference record. Here is how these teams fare right now on conference record:

Dallas 6-4 (2 to play)

Atlanta 5-4 (3)

Washington 6-4 (2)

Philadelphia 6-4 (2)

Chicago 5-5 (2)

New Orleans 4-5 (3)

So its still a long shot, but the Bears chances of getting a WC did go up by quite a bit today.

Basically, the Bears can afford at most, 1 loss. However, that loss cannot be against New Orleans or Green Bay. A loss to either team and wins in the other 2 would mean there would be very little chance of the Bears winning a tiebreaker with any team based on conference record. Every team in the race plays at least 2 NFC games still. And the only way for the Bears to get a tiebreaker would be to get past the best conference record tiebreaker and go to common games. Because if the Bears lost to an NFC team, the team they would be tied with would have to lose 2 NFC games to get the tiebreaker to the next level, which would mean, they likely wouldn't be tied with the Bears in the first place.

I'm having a hard time believing the Bears can beat both NO and GB -- both high-pass offenses against our weakness, which is pass D.

But, just have to wait and see I guess. Maybe the cold weather will put the cork in Brees' bottle on Thursday. We can hope for that.

Houston looks better to me than I originally thought. That last game is no gimme either. It's kind of a tough haul for the Bears from here on out. We're definitely pushing up hill.

I just remembered that the Vikings and Falcons play, so that means we are only 1 game behind one of those teams instead of 2 as originally thought. Hopefully that team is Minnesota.
