I realized yesterday evening as the Rays were beating the RedSox that soon ALL of the recent expansion teams(what's it been now, 13 years?) will all have made it to the World Series before the Cubs have. With the DBacks winning it, and the Marlins winning it twice.

Since 1998 there have been 10 different NL teams that have made the World Series: Padres, Braves, Mets, Diamondbacks, Giants, Marlins, Cardinals, Astros, Cardinals (again), Rockies and Phillies.

The Cubs join the Reds, Pirates, Nationals/Expos, and Dodgers as the NL teams who haven't been to the World Series during that time.

You forgot the Brewers.

EDIT: Wow! Going into these playoffs all four teams had not been to the WS during that stretch (and actually longer, 1993-Phillies). So, the three teams that lost could all say the same thing, we're one of only 6 franchises to not go to the WS from the NL in the last 11 seasons. That's crazy.

This is even more depressing...

Since MLB expansion in 1962, every team but 4 (Mariners, Astros, Rangers, Expos/Nationals) has made it to the World Series.

That means EVERY expansion team to join the league in the last 46 years, besides those 4, has done advanced farther than the Cubs.

I think that just furthers his point. That being said, I quit life if the Nationals make the Series before the Cubs.

four or five years ago the rays would have been the team you cited when making that claim.
