What Avery did to Thomas was pretty funny I thought actually. He isn't bad...he doesn't do anything dangerous that hurts anyone. He is the best pest there is though.

Why? It's not like he intentionally hurts people... he TAPPED Thomas on the helmet not even very hard. What did Thomas do? Chased after him like a mad man and made him focus on Avery more than the game he was goal tending (final score notwithstanding).

 

He's an [expletive] and a douchebag, but he knows what he's doing out there and is damn good at it. The day he intentionally injures someone badly I will renounce my fandom of Sean Avery.

If pests actually increased the effectiveness of the opposing team they wouldn't exist. The truth is they can make their opposition less effective. Avery does this by making himself the focus of the other team. This has helped the Rangers win for the past two years when they had him. He is quite good at getting into the head of the guys he is playing against, just ask any Devils fan.

I thought his sloppy seconds comment was out of line and that's not being an NHL pest, that's just being a moron in real life. However, the suspension he was handed was also out of line.

 

I also disagree with him calling Laraque a monkey if that was actually true.

 

But the French Canadian comment? Absolutely true and I'm glad he said it.

Actually Ott has many times. He actually TRIES to injure people when he gets pissed, Avery just becomes a bigger douchebag pest.

 

Ott took out Sharp for 6 weeks with a dirty knee-to-knee hit just this year.
