That was a horrible decision to go for it down 2 scores midway through the 4th. You take the guaranteed points. Now theres 8 mins left and you're still down 2 scores.

I disagree.

They're right there. There's no guarantee they'll be right there again.

There is also no guarantee that you get the ball 2 more times if you fail to get in the end zone. Worry about getting the TD when you have the ball down 6

There's no question you're accepting that it's do or die if you go for it. I still think it's the right call, though.

Dusty apparently hit the ball, though I'm not sure it was before the false start.

I'm still annoyed by the 2002(?) game where the NT grabbed the ball on the snap legally and would have given us the ball down by less than a TD but the ref screwed up and called that. Jets game, I think

Nope, they were right to go for it.

Care to explain why? How can you not take guaranteed points when you are down 2 scores? kicking a FG doesn't even take away your chance of winning with a td. If they were down 10, I could see the Bears justify it by saying that 2 TDs would give us a win, but a TD and FG would tie it. You kick the FG, then score a TD on the next drive and you win the game

Unbelievably poor blocking on that 4th down play, IMO. The 3rd down play was a horrible play call by Turner.

Just not getting the solid, consistent game plans, play calls, and execution from this team. It's a .500 ballclub at best.

pretty decent odds for a safety if they don't call that penalty

I also don't trust the O-line and the O-Coordinator for the Bears in that situation. A different team and maybe I reconsider.

You're gambling you can punch it in from inside the 1. Yes, you need the FG but you also need the TD and that's a really good opportunity for it.

How can a defensive player delay the game ??

I'm not watching the Bears game, but one way that a defensive player can get called for a delay of game is if they are calling out fake signals trying to make people believe that they are the quarterback. It's probably what happened if there was no real clear delay.

How is there ever decent odds for a safety? Without the penalty, they probably handoff to the FB or a QB sneak to get some room to run the offense.

It's 2 downs from the half yard line. While I wouldn't have complained if they took the FG, you can't claim it wasn't a good opportunity to get the TD that you need.

Worry about the TD later. At least put yourself in a position to need only a TD later. I think we'll agree to disagree there.

The problem was have now, gents, is that we are now counting on a D that has clearly showed it can't stop the Falcons offense.

Except for 2 minutes ago.

It was a great opportunity. I'm not in complete disagreement, but if given that situation and personnel, I would make that choice 100 times out of 100. It's not a case of retrospect either becuase I was telling my friends that I kick the FG on 4th down before the 3rd down play.
