National League 1st 2nd 3rd Points

Brad Lidge, PHI 12 7 3 53

Kerry Wood, CHC 6 6 4 34

Ryan Ludwick, STL 5 4 4 27

Jorge Cantu, FLA 2 5 7 23

Fernando Tatis, NYM 2 5 2 18

Jody Gerut, SD 1 1 1 6

Gabe Kapler, MIL 0 1 4 6

Doug Davis, ARI 1 1 0 5

Mike Lincoln, CIN 1 0 0 3

Mike Hampton, ATL 0 0 2 2

Chan Ho Park, LAD 0 0 1 1

I find Ludwicks inclusion a bit odd. Doesn the Comeback Player suggest that they're coming back after a rough year or a few? What is Ludwick coming back from? Hes been a career minor leaguer. If he was the breakthrough player of the year, Id understand, but a comeback player should be coming back from something.

Lidge over Wood or Ludwick is certainly...odd.

I'll start Rich Hill's campaign for next season's award.

WTF... Brad Lidge didn't even have a horrible year last year, he shouldn't even have been allowed in the discussion. Last year, maybe, but not this year.

Kerry Wood and Jorge Cantu should've been the frontrunners, and me personally I would've given it to Cantu over Wood. What Wood has done is nice, but he's always had the talent, and what he did he only did over a small course of the season in terms of innings played. Cantu spent two years playing like dirt, being shipped off to the minors, people saying he was a fluke, then he comes back and while playing in a massive pitchers park half the year, managed to hit 41 doubles, 29 home runs and drive in 95 runs.

Cantu was the most deserving of this award. He was a cast off, considered just a fill in they didn't need at the beginning of the year. He's the epitome of the "Comeback Player". In fact, what he went through was similar what Pena went through up to last year. But instead of giving it to him, they give it to a reliever who played last year, and played pretty well.

That's stupid

Ahh, no. He's a career injured reserve, but not a career minor leaguer. Ludwick could always mash. He just was on the DL all the time.

I woulda voted for Fernando Tatis, cause I bet half of you thought he was dead.

He has a record that will never be broken. He don't need no stinkin' Comeback Player of the Year.

Not really. His career minor league line was 270 .349 .501 850

I think he was referring to his home run potential, which Ludwick certaintly had plenty of in the minors.

You people are forgetting Lidge got this award simply for battling back from that devastating homerun he gave up to Pujols a few yrs ago. I mean you give up a homerun to Pujols, you should be given the comeback player of the yr, regardless of how well he pitched since then.
