If you want someone from the Angels, the correct answer is their first baseman.

No arguments there. He's making his money in this postseason too.

At least the Cubs didn't win 100 and then get swept out.

The flipside of that is at least the Angels aren't getting swept out by a team that only won 84 games and was 13.5 games worse than them in the regular season.

Yeah, but the Cubs are going to come back and win.

The Red Sox are certainly better than the Dodgers, but the "84 win" thing is pretty decieiving when tlaking about the Dodgers. If they had Manny and a healthy Furcal all season they would be well over 84 wins.

So do we want the Angels to avoid the sweep and keep our new record, or do we want the Cubs to avoid infamy?

Infamy has already occured, no one should care about the new record. It doesn't make this ending any better.

I can't stand Beckett so I'm rooting for the Halos.

If you're going to suck, you may as well be good at it.

Go Angels!

What new record?

Most wins in regular season to be swept in LDS.

They don't have that record. The Diamondbacks won 98 in 2002 and were swept by the Cardinals in the first round.

I am an on epic streak of repeating things I hear and not looking them up. I gotta stop that.

In my defense, the only reason I know that is because prior to Game 3 I was curious as to if the Cubs would have the most losses for any team swept in a DS or in a best-of-5 series in general (i.e. the old CS were best-of-5 games).

Oh good, so there is ONLY one team that didn't win a single game in the playoffs. That's good to know.

Which team was that?

I realize young pitching wasn't really a weak spot for the Twins this year, but how many times do you think they look at Jon Lester, then look at Carlos Gomez's .296 OBP and 77 OPS+ and think about what would've happened if they had pulled the trigger on the Johan-to-Boston deal instead? Was getting him out of the AL really that much more valuable?
