The opening paragraph says it all:

Not another word, Houston Astros. Not another word about Bud Selig or that trip to Milwaukee or the injustice of it all. And not another word from your fans or media, either. Shut up -- every single one of you. Shut your stupid mouths.

He finally wrote something worth the time it took to read it. =D>

Blame an incompetant owner? Nope.

Blame an inadaquate team? Not a chance.

Lets say the Astros won BOTH games against the Cubs. You're still sitting at home, still not even needing game 162 to be played.

Was I the only one hoping the article was announcing his resignation?

No.

Anyways, I don't really read Doyel much except maybe a couple times before, and his articles are always the same. He always aims to anger one particular fanbase, and this time it's the Astros.

I agree with the main point (stop complaining, Houston players), but does he seriously think Astros players will actually read this article? Of course not, he just felt like picking a fight with Astros fans.

You know, I just think that this guy, Gregg Doyel, is an okay guy in real life, but on the internet, CBS hired him as a persona, to write articles simply to piss off fans. Nobody can be this much of a jerk, right?

Now, I do agree that the 'Stros players cannot blame this for their season slipping away.

Disregarding the article, playing a "home" game in front of a largely road crowd is not the reason your team managed to get 1 hit in two games. You play road games all year, in front of much larger road crowds, and you manage to win some of those. It's absolutely ridiculous to blame Bud Selig for not being able to hit in a different environment than the juice box that they play in.

Yes, I know they went through a lot down in Houston, and I'm sure some of the players heads weren't really in the game. But would playing the game in Houston change their mental state all that much? Would they not be worried about relatives or the homeless or dead just because they got to play in their own stadium? It's ridiculous. You want to blame someone, blame Ike, or blame yourselves for forgetting how to hit.

I agree, and echo the sentiments of the earlier post that was hoping this was a letter of resignation. Doyle is an arse. There just happened to be a topic that deserved to be hit like that for once.
