Here is the line for Bengie Molina last night

3 AB's, 0 R, 1 H, 2 RBI, 1 HR

I think Molina is officially the first person to ever hit a homerun without scoring a run. How did it happen?

Molina hit a ball that was questionable on if it was a homerun or single. The Giants pinch-ran for him after he got to first (with Burriss). They then argued the call, and the umps decided to go to replay.

The umps came back out and ruled it was a homerun. The Giants protested that they should be able to keep Molina in the game. But after a few minutes, the officials ruled that Burriss was legally substituted in and that Molina was done for the day.

So how did it go down in the book? Molina gets the home run, but Burriss his pinch-runner officially scored the run. Absolutely absurd.

Ridiculous. I bet there is a rule-change over this.

If a player hits a homer, but say breaks his leg between home and first, isn't his pinch-runner entitled to first and only first? So, in this situation Molina has to be allowed back into the game to circle the bases for himself. If a player can't circle the bases for an injured player, why should he be allowed to for an uninjured player.

Also, wouldn't it be an illegal substitution to pinch-run for him essentially in the middle of a play? Therefore, since the ruling was overturned it's like the play never stopped and the substitution could never take place.

No, the pinch runner does circle the bases. Happened to Kapler about 2 years ago.
