I know he's having a career year and there are a lot of people here who don't want him back for that exact reason, but I really do want him back personally. But, I also think he's turned himself into a 2-3ish type pitcher as well. I think he'll give us a solid discount too, based on his love of the city and team. Class act and I hope he's back.

For some reason I fully expect Ryan Dempster to still be on the team next year. I just worry I'm going to hate his looming 4/40 contract really quickly.

4/40 would be a pretty huge discount. That's what Lilly got. Demp could easily ask for much, much more than that, and probably get it.

It's really just a case of not liking them when they were bad (or good against us, in Edmonds' case), and liking them when they are good. And when/if they are ever bad again, we'll not like them again. It's actually quite rational.

Regardless of his on-field performance, Dempster has always been awesome. Seems to be a great clubhouse kind of guy, and he joins random bbqs near the ballpark.

Dempster is pitching awesome this year because of the awesome Geo. Hell, even Marquis has been decent in the second half this year. If we don't get Demp back, we need to have Geo go be Rich Hills roommate for the winter so he can get more time to rub his awesomeness off on him too.
