I can't believe the Brewers season has spiraled this out of control.

If they lose this they will have gone 4-14 in September, gone from up 5.5 games to down 2.5 games (if the Mets and Phillies scores hold), losing 8 games in the standings in an 18 game span. This will likely crush the hopes of all Brewers fans, who really didn't deserve to have this happen to them at all. I mean after waiting 26 years for your team to go into the playoffs, and to be 5.5 games up heading into September, to having this happen to you and knowing that your 2 Ace starters are almost certainly going to leave via FA and you are going to have to start over again....I just cant imagine how bad it must be to be a Brewers fan. I really want them to make the playoffs, but can't see myself rooting for them to beat us, even if the games are meaningless for us.

I hear you, this is exactly what I was thinking myself. I don't dislike the Brewers like I do the Cards, so I do feel bad for their fans (Of course, I wont be losing any sleep over it either :D )

Cards fans are much worse, but I know my share of cheeseheads, and last year in the first half, when they seemed poised to take the division, they were pretty high and mighty, especially the ones who didnt know that they had a team before then.

Thank you, DBR. Probably the only favor they've done for us this year, is beat the Brewers when we needed it most.

We got what we wanted...Magic #:1. Let's get a W and celebrate!

Alfredo Amezaga just hit a 3 run jack against the Phillies... Marlins up 11-6 now in the bottom of the 5th.

Not good. It's looking like a first round date with Cole Hamels and the Phillies is inevitable. If the Mets hold on against ATL they'll have a 1 game lead in the loss collumn and also hold the tie breaker, essentially giving them a 2 game lead.

Between Moyer and Hamels (lefties who throw good change ups) the Phillies scare the crap out of me.

Really, we're afraid of Jamie Moyer now?

5.23 ERA over 10.1 Innings this season, 7.20 last year over 5.

Shockingly, no playoff team is going to throw Phil Dumatrait against us, so if we're gonna be afraid of old mediocrities like Moyer, then we might as well pack it in now, cause he's one of the worst starting pitchers on a playoff roster.

HFA number is still 4, but technically I don't know what it really is considering we wont be playing that last game against Houston. Any non drunk people want to indulge?

Good point, the HFA number is 3 cause with a 3-6 finish we wind up 95-66 while the Mets could win out and they'd be 95-67.

If it was significant for the purposes of HFA, would the Houston game be played?

Haha, the Angels lead the Rangers 13-12 in the 5th inning.

It's not very often you allow the other team to score nine runs in an inning and still win. Same goes the other way - not often you get a nine-run inning and lose.

Eric Davis, Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo, Adam Dunn, Hal Morris, Jose Rijo, Rob Dibble, Deion Sanders, Frank Robinson, Pete Rose, and Johnny Bench all just homered off the Brewers pitching staff.

hahahah

Wouldn't they play the game if it came down to that? Or does it matter when it only decides seeding?

I was under the impression the games were only made up if they mattered for making the playoffs or not, but the only example I can find is the Giants in '03, and baseballmusings back in '03 attributed that to the Giants request not to play it since they were the only ones with anything to gain. Interesting to see what they'd do if the situation arose(it won't)
