That was awesome on many levels, considering we dont know when the next game is. I say if the Astros refuse to take it somewhere else, they should forfeit.

Can they still decide to take it elsewhere and elect for a DH on Saturday, or will there be no games the next 2 days no matter what?

Good win fellas. Congratulations.

You guys look lucky and good. The two wins this series came on gift innings. That is the mark of a good team.

Go get them in the playoffs.

I'm sure you were sincere, but this wins the award for backhanded compliment of the thread.

We'll take them any way we can get them at this point.

Well, it was meant to say two things.

1) You guys got lucky this series

2) You guys are the best team in the National League. Good teams find ways to win when they aren't playing their best.

I don't think they played their best this series, and they won 2 of 3. The runs yesterday were gifted by Lopez. The runs today were gifted by Welly in the 5th.

The complement is that you guys are definintely the best team in the league, and you are finding ways to win. Congrats on the series (and most likely ending the Cards season) and good luck in the playoffs. I hope you guys get it done.

Amazing that Lee is projected to get 91 RBIs for the season where he spent all year hitting 3rd for the team with the best offense (in terms or runs and OBP) in the league.

..and he was raking in April. It's amazing that his struggles aren't discussed more in the media or by Lou.

I'm sure you will be saying the same thing over on GWRB.com

They are who they thought they were. The Cubs are who they thought they were. Thats why we took the damn field. If you want to crown them, then crown their arse.

Harden hits 94 on the gun and looks sharp, Cubs win, Brewers lose....just about the best day in two weeks.

If the Brewers keep falling all over themselves maybe we can clinch at Wrigley. Oh, wait, nevermind, we don't get to play this weekend........

and the Card fans head for the exits happy, not about the outcome of the game but in the knowledge that when they get home, they will still get to catch most of the Hee Haw marathon on TV Land.

You have a different one every night huh?

Theyre saying a DH Sunday and a game Monday. Hopefully, it will give the Astros a few days to cool off and work to our advantage.

Still it is very possible that we end the weekend with a magic number of 8 without playing game.

This is so bizarre to have no idea when the next Cubs game is.

Haven't they said that they're playing sunday and monday, they just don't know where?

Yeah but who really knows. If they decide to play Sunday on a neutral site, when will they decide? Once they assess the damage? The hurricane will be at its worst Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon. If the power is out in Houston and flights are grounded (because likely the backend of the storm is still tropical storm intensity) when are they going to fly out and get to the site?

What do you think I'd change?

You think I'm on GWRB cursing the Cubs?

If you actually looked, you'd see that I am one of those who hopes the Cubs do well if the Cards don't. You probably think differently since I call your bias out, but I do. Congrats on the win and the season. Would you like me to post that at GWRB? I figured it would be more appreciated here.

LOL - so you must realize that while it's not Chicago, it's also not that bad.

Do you live IN Chicago or just the burbs?

It's ok, I'm sure he knows that we aren't exactly playing our best baseball right now.

Just as easily as you can say the Cardinals could have swept, you can say the Cubs could have swept. One pitch to Pujols, or one Mike Quade stop sign on Soto and we likely win game 1 as well.

Exactly.

Can the WC magic number go down while we're off? I don't think it can

yes just like the division, as long as 2nd place team loses then it goes down. For the next two days either the Division or WC magic number goes down 1 each day.

I'm glad it came down to Pujols with the winning runs on base.

Enough of this chicken little garbage.

Take on the best they have and beat them. No excuses. Well done, Cubs.

Right now, the Phils and Astros are tied for the WC. So with the Astros idle, I guess that if the Phils win the next 2 games, and lose the 3rd, and we win 1 of the Sunday games. I think anyway.

I know but are there possible scenario's where the 2nd place team isn't houston if the Phillies lose a game.

Don't have to be shooting for it to go down. I'd love for the Brewers to lose both games and the magic number to go to 9 while the Cubs are sitting around. I'm not going to be upset if the playoff number goes to 6 though.

Someone start the next game thread. The title should be:

"9/?? Cubs/???? @ ????/Cubs ?:?? ?M CDT ???/720. Game 1/?"

And we'll fill in the rest as we go along

Once they clinch the playoffs I can relax. I want to live.
