Yes, Lou, use your extensive medical training to diagnose what is wrong and explain it to the rest of us. STOP HOLDING BACK, OLD MAN.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I asked of him, right? He clearly needed extensive medical training to be honest about why Harden was being skipped.

The truth is this though, Lou doesn't have to be honest with anyone. He doesn't "owe" it to the fans, media, etc.

As long as Zambrano and Harden are honest with him and vice-versa, there isn't a problem.

What does Lou have to gain by denying anything? Pretty much nothing. I listened to the interview on the Score, and he didnt sound like someone hiding anything, he sounded like a guy who didnt know any more than anyone else, and was baffled as anyone as to why Z missed the MRI.

Pretty much.

Well if that's the case then it is equally unsettling that he has no idea what is going on.

What a nightmare. And yeah, I don't trust anything this organization says right now. They're back to where they were in the Prior/Wood/Dusty days.

Were they supposed to wrestle Z into the MRI machine?

In the old days, they'd put a date on someone coming back from injury, but then the player never would.

If they don't know what the situation is, I'd rather they say so than try to reassure fans with unrealistic projections.

COme on, they're clearly holding stuff back. Lou first lcaims he's skipping Harden's start as a precaution, then he eventually admits something isn't right....then the next day finally admits there's discomofrt. Meanwhile Harden keeps claiming he's fine.

So Harden is the one we can't trust!!! It's a campaign by Harden to make sure people buy playoff tickets!!!

If Z and Harden have serious injuries I think I believe in curses.

i'll believe that Z is finally breaking down after years of abuse, and harden is breaking down because, well, that's what he does.

According to Josh Mora, Harden says it's just normal in-season discomfort, nothing serious.

Normal, in-season discomfort is the kind of stuff that lands Harden on the DL.

The playoffs start in one month. They just need to do everything they can to get these guys back.

Maybe a month-long breather is exactly what these guys need to be ready for the playoffs.

This certainly sucks, though.

Per rotoworld:

Rich Harden, who isn't scheduled to start again until next Wednesday, admitted to some arm discomfort.

"I’ve been feeling pretty good, but I guess I’ve had a little bit of discomfort you could call it. But nothing serious," he said. It's always serious when it comes to Harden. He'll go 11 days without pitching before attempting to return to the mound next week.

Ok, there is rarely a good time to bust out a Scooby Doo reference, but I think you nailed it.

Rich Harden, who isn't scheduled to start again until next Wednesday, admitted to some arm discomfort.

But Rich also said this in an cubs.com article today.

Meanwhile, starter Rich Harden reiterated that he's feeling fine, and the discomfort that forced him to miss his turn is a non-issue. Harden said he could pitch this week if he had to, but Piniella repeated that Harden would be starting if he was available.

"They were planning on skipping me before I even came here [from Oakland]," Harden said. "It just seemed like a decent time. I've felt pretty good. I've had a little bit of discomfort, but nothing serious."

I don't think Lou is happy that he is forced to deal with Rich's schedule from Oakland, but his last start clearly showed that he needed a rest. He has been pitched hard lately, and at this point there is no need to panic at least.

The Cubs knew what they were getting, but right now with Guadin unavailable, and Z down the pitching situation is thin. Lou is stressing, just as we are.
