All this ambiguity drives me nuts. They're pitchers, of course they have discomfort all year.

I can't imagine it's that big of a deal if they're starting him next week, but I guess we'll see.

FWIW, Harden has said he's fine.

Lou has been the one to suggest there's something "wrong" beyond just getting him some rest for normal aches and pains...both in today and yesterday's comments...

Still scheduled to start next Wednesday:

Health reports of the Cubs' pitching staff may be going from bad to worse as Lou Piniella admitted today for the first time that right-hander Rich Harden is experiencing "discomfort."

Piniella said Harden, who hasn't pitched since Aug. 29, will next pitch Wednesday against St. Louis. That will be a spotlight start similar to Zambrano's on Tuesday. Zambrano also was coming off an extended rest.

Harden has a history of injury.

If Z and Harden have serious injuries I think I believe in curses.

yep, lightning seems to like to hit this team much more than once

Probably Hart and Marshall.

I think they'll trust Lieber as the second option over Hart. Marshall definitely is the 1st.

Definitely not Hart, he hasn't thrown more than 2 innings in a long time.

Umm, if he has discomfort, he needs to not pitch until it goes away.

Nuts. I thought he was worked back as a starter when he was last sent down.

What a nightmare. And yeah, I don't trust anything this organization says right now. They're back to where they were in the Prior/Wood/Dusty days.

Were they supposed to wrestle Z into the MRI machine?

In the old days, they'd put a date on someone coming back from injury, but then the player never would.

If they don't know what the situation is, I'd rather they say so than try to reassure fans with unrealistic projections.

COme on, they're clearly holding stuff back. Lou first lcaims he's skipping Harden's start as a precaution, then he eventually admits something isn't right....then the next day finally admits there's discomofrt. Meanwhile Harden keeps claiming he's fine. Then after he game Lou is all "Oh, I guess it was Z's arm or something.. I don't know". Yeah Lou, I'm sure you aren't aware of why he had to leave the game. Now Lou is being all vague again about the Z MRI stuff. It was available to him, but he didn't take it? What the hell does that mean? Just be straight with us.

Heh, Lou does the weird pretend to be senile/don't know what's going on act all the time.

ETA: I'm sure he does it to be vague and make it hard to sift through what he really means. He's done it with non injuries too. Don't know what to make of the Z missing the MRI when he had it available to him.

Yes, Lou, use your extensive medical training to diagnose what is wrong and explain it to the rest of us. STOP HOLDING BACK, OLD MAN.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I asked of him, right? He clearly needed extensive medical training to be honest about why Harden was being skipped.
