meh, except for Gooz

I'm pumped about Hoffpauir. Gooz too - but mainly Hoffpauir. I think both could make the playoff roster with a good September.

You really think Guz has a chance to make the playoff roster?

I think Hoff will (replacing Ward) but I think Guz is a stretch.

Barring injury, Marquis isn't making the playoff roster. Hoff(or some long shot) will be taking his spot. The last 2 pen spots are gonna come down to Cotts, Gooz, Howry, Lieber, and Wuertz. With that being the order I think they have chances of getting the spot. Marquis will go to Mesa to stay loose in case of an injury.

Looks like Chad Fox was moved to the 60-day DL and Rich Hill called up and placed on the big league 15-day DL (lower back soreness).

I assume you mean 60 day DL? Putting him on the 15 day does nothing.

cubs.com has it as 15 day. Isn't that 41 guys on the 40 man?

Or I can't count. Why bother putting Rich on the DL?

It's not 41 on the 40-man roster, because Hill was already on the 40-man roster. Putting him on the major league 15-day DL now may just be preliminary to transferring him to the 60-day later if they need more postseason roster flexibility.

Yeah, I knew Hill was on the 40 man, I just thought we were at 39 not counting Gooz who was on the 60 day. I guess I was always counting Gooz when counting 39.

Trading Eyre put them down to 38 plus Guzman on the 60 day DL.

Ah that'd be it.

Not sure.

Yesterday, the Cubs recalled left-handed pitcher Rich Hill from the Daytona Cubs and placed him on the major league 15-day disabled list with lower back soreness.

Could be to settle a grievance. If he feels he was injured at the major league level, that'd be worth a lot more money to him.

It's to gain a playoff roster eligibility slot. Because Hill was recalled and placed on the DL, he's eligible to make the active playoff roster. Before the first series begins, he could be replaced by someone not yet eligible like Hoffpauir or Wuertz if they decide to do so.

Wait K.Hill is back on the DL when did that happen?
