He then called me the "Pete Sampras of assholes."

All I had to say was: I don't have his chest hair.

you should have turned around and thrown up on him, to commemorate pete's u.s. open vomiting.

Damn I hate the Brewers!

We'd have a 10.5 game lead in the East right now and in the West, we'd be up by 16!! games.

Basically, (if in East) we'd be able to play 12-15 the rest of the way, and the Mets would have to go 24-4 to win the East. In the West, we could go 12-15, and still win the West by a game [& that is taking into account that ARI finished 29-0!].

What if the Brewers have been pushing us to greater heights though? They've been there the whole year. We've had to play our best baseball to stay head. I don't think a little positive pressure from the Crew has necessarily been a bad thing.

I don't mind the Brewers keeping the pressure on the Cubs. It seems to bring out the best in them.

Pete Sampras of assholes? What does that even mean?

I don't know? I thought the reference was about 10 years too late as well. I mean, if he said the Roger Federer of Assholes, I woulda known what he meant.

Entirely besides the fact that he tried to reference tennis during a baseball game. I mean, Babe Ruth of Assholes woulda been nice.

Oh I get it. So he's saying that you're like the king of assholes or the biggest [expletive] or whatever. What a strange way of communicating that.

Seriously, can "the Pete Sampras of assholes" be the tag under his screenname? That is beyond hysterical ad should be worn as a badge of honor.

I second this motion.

In other news, Todd Hollandsworth (who lives in the Chicago area), is carving out a little nitch for himself as a former Cub analyst type (he's trying to get in on some of Pleasac's money. LOL). He's on Chicago Tribune Live today, and a frequent quest in the past. I also saw him co-hosting the Sunday night sports wrapup on channel 5 (or 2).

that's who that was. I saw the guy talking about his playing days on Tribune Live and missed who it was. he doesn't look the same without the mullet.

After listening to thew game highlights on the radio, it sounds like lady luk had as much to do with this win as anything, between the overthrow at first by Rollins and the Ryah Howard out at frst thing.

FWIW, the Phillies were pretty lucky to score their second run.

Is that DeRosa sporting the high socks?

That's Reed. He was switched in to RF for Kosuke in the 7th.\

I'm still not quite used to seeing Edmonds doing the outfield jump.

From Roto.This is nuts

Marmol has allowed just two hits in 16 1/3 innings during August. The league is hitting an absurd .127 off him overall, and the three strikouts today gave him 100 in 74 2/3 innings this season.

Best reliever in baseball, bar none.

mariano rivera might have something to say about that.

He said "best reliever", not "best closer", duh........ :D

Good thing we won these 2 games because Lilly is going to get assaulted by their lineup. Im guessing he gives up 5 runs.

Might be a good idea to just let Philly win tomorrow so that Brett Myers's wife can sleep soundly at night.

...just wanted to give a good lead in to tomorrow's game thread.
