It's a shame that Ichiro won the MVP in 2001

Olerud played 2 more games than him and Bret Boone one more. Clearly Ichiro should have come in 3rd in voting that year.

That and Giambi put up a 1.137 OPS to Ichiro's .838.

yeah, but what was the Yankee's record with him in the lineup? that's what really matters (so i've learned)

Soriano's a G, and the team MVP, but why N, SBB hates him's a nother story

The Cubs win with him in, and they lose with if he's not, he's beloved by all fans, DeRo cheers when he's hot.

He's a streaky mo-fo, but he's got lots to show, what matters is clutch, and where he hits in the line up

Sor-i-an oooo please win that tro-phyy for the cubbies... [cheers]

If Alfonsooo ends up lasssstttttttt.

I'll just use point-lessssss statssssss

Both of you knock it off. There is no attacking of other posters allowed at NSBB.

Alfonso you see

In Wrigley's holy light

Soriano leads off

at the twilight's last gleaming.

Whose pin stripes and big C

out in Wrigley's left field,

O'er the bleachers he watched

his homerun gallantly flying.

And the stadiums' lights glare, the flyballs flying in air,

Gave proof through the night that his hop was still there.

Oh, say does Soriano deserve the MVP?

Cubs are 51-24, with him in the linnnnnneeeeee uuuuuuuuuuupppppppp!

PLAY BALL!

Ignore the fact Giambi had already won one joke of a MVP the year before.

Yeah another thread on NSBB where three or four posters blow what someone says way out of the water and continue to run with it refusing to see at least some logic. No soriano wasn't the sole reason we were 26-28 without him but he was a large reason for it. A good portion of the time he was out our offense struggled mightly but once he came back it picked back up. He has a big impact on how our offense runs and he has dominanted more than any other Cub hitter this year. Add in he is one the best team in the NL and its obvious to anyone who will have an open mind that he deserves some MVP consideration. Right now he's not leading but he's top 5 and if he continues to hit like he is right now to the end of the season he could still win it.

This board has a very very large problem with the mob mentality. One person jumps on someone and the whole group follows suit. Cool your jets and stop being a bunch of pricks.

First of all, I'm not surprised that you are siding with the person who now holds the title for NSBB's dumbest argument.

Secondly, any merit to the base argument for Soriano as MVP was completely destroyed by the OP's pigheadedness and his insistence on following W/L stats without Soriano exclusively, while ignoring rational discussion using real stats that ACTUALLY determine MVP candidacy.

your second the guy above you was first of all
