Reds sign Alonso per Jim Callis.

The A's continue their ridiculous loading up:

The A’s have signed Pepperdine righthander Brett Hunter for $1.1 million, a draft record for a seventh-rounder. Hunter projected as an early first-round pick before injuring his elbow in his second start of the year. After missing most of the college season, he returned to pitch with Team USA’s college team this summer.

Cubs could do that with Wilson. :(

The A's could be very good. But, what is to stop them from just trading these guys away too?

Sure they can, but they're hoping to cash in while these guys are young and cheap. Trying to pull a Marlins.

I know what they are doing, and why it is smart. But, I don't have to like it.

3. Kansas City: 1B Eric Hosmer, American Heritage HS (Plantation, FL)

9. Washington: RHP Aaron Crow, Missouri

20. Seattle: RHP Josh Fields, Georgia - college senior so he can sign after today's deadline

28. NY Yankees: RHP Gerrit Cole, Orange Lutheran HS (Santa Ana, CA) - reportedly going to UCLA

No Crow

I've just learned the Washington Nationals did not sign RHP Aaron Crow. They did, however, come to terms with 15th rounder J.P. Ramirez. I'm told they are very happy with their draft and the scouting staff is already dreaming about having two top-10 picks in 20

Crow won't go back to Mizzou, he's signed with the independent Ft. Worth Cats.

On the day he was drafted, Alonso said he was eager to get to Cincinnati and meet outfielders Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn, two of his favorites. Both were traded before Alonso signed with the team.

Buster Posey didn't get a major league contract but got the biggest up-front bonus in MLB history at $6.2 million.

Pedro Alvarez is a Pirate, $6 million and no big league contract!

Not a bad day for the Buccos, they miss out on Scheppers but get Quinton Miller (20th rounder), Pedro Alvarez and 6th rounder Robbie Grossman. They probably upped their draft system by about 10 spots in rankings with those 3 and Morris and Tabata.

Hosmer signed.

What the hell is going on? 6 milion + signing bonus'??? When did this happen? Is this the first year? The biggest MLB signing bonus' i'd ever heard of before today was like 3 million or something.
