i ended up being able to watch. the kings were responsible in their own end...i really hate that gauthier/preissing pairing and it bites them about once a game. other than that, they played well. much closer than the 5-2 score for sure. hawks got a little undisciplined late (that too many men call was just terrible by the hawks).

huet is one of the streakiest goalies i've ever watched...i'd give him a chance to have a hot streak before anyone crucifies him or tallon.

i actually thought he played okay...not great, but alright. when khabi inevitably cools off, it's going to be nice to have another solid option in huet.

Huet is a bum. It's been obvious from the start this year. Tallon needs to answer for this.

I thought many of us agreed that Huet was a great signing? The bugger mistake was nearly letting Khabi go.

From TSN:

Tallon met with Sundin on Friday.

Possibly being moves:

Havlat

Khabibulin

I know his trade value is highest now, but really trade Khabi? He's carrying this team.. Havlat I'm fine about. Why hasn't he been injured yet?

I'm fine with trading Havlat because it seems to me he only gives his best effort every third game or so. He produces, but he's not meeting his potential. And, as you said, he's an injury waiting to happen.

I don't see how they can trade Khabi right now. We'd be in the tank without him. Huet is garbage.

I don't think they are anymore. I'd like to see them give Crawford a few games to show what he's got, then try and move him as well.

The most logical choice of someone to move would be Havlat.

We might be better off declaring Huet has a phantom "injury" and is out indefinitely, then call up one of our minor league goalies. But of course that won't happen. I don't see why we signed the guy, he's horrible. It's like every time he's in goal we're doomed.

He's really not horrible... he got cold at the wrong time last year for the Caps in the playoffs. Huet is the kind of goalie that gets better the more consecutive games he plays. He hasn't had that with the Hawks. Crawford is up now, and he will play Friday if Bulin isn't back. Coach Q said Bulin could POSSIBLY be back this weekend, but I expect to see Crawford in the net for one game before being sent back down.

The future is Niemi and I think they signed Huet because they know Khabibulin will be gone next year. Having a 1 and 2 of Niemi and Huet isn't too bad either.

EDIT: No, Huet is signed for 4 years... duh. $22.5 mil.

Gonna be Niemi and Huet for awhile, folks. Niemi is a special goaltender, though. Really excited to see him mature.

So they signed Huet as the long-term starter then according to those dollars. I think it's safe to say that at least for now, that signing is a failure.

Open netter seals it. Nice comeback win tonight. Man this team can look bad, then just flip the light switch and blow doors off everything.

I'm gonna come in here and call out Huet before every one of his starts too, because was actually pretty solid tonight.
