UH OH! Kane got checked... lets fall to the ice.

I swear to God I could put on my gear, and be hit like that and pop right up... what a [expletive].

Hawks deserved to lose this game.

Kane, stop flopping to the ice everytime you get manhandled, you [expletive].

I've pretty much given up on Kane being good again this season. If it happens, great. He is just a complete mess right now. He's really hurting the team.

I decided to wait until this morning to post my thoughts on this one. It didn't help.

Eager/Janssen: I reckon they picked up on TV the ref jumping in and telling before the faceoff not to go. Given that Eager obviously wasn't interesting, Janssen should have gotten a penalty for instigating. After that shift and even when the next period started, Eager was yelling at someone on the Blues bench. I didn't see any Blues player yelling back at him. I think it was one of their coaches. Whatever it was, it was pretty heated.

Honestly, the way the Hawks were playing, Eager probably should've thrown down. The team needed a spark, and he needed to take the risk that Janssen would kick his ass. Again. His later fight against Winchester (I think) was a solid effort. For that matter, Walker made a good showing in his fight :30 into the game. The guy sitting next to me said he was surprised Crombeen went with him. I see why.

Kane: Cyno, I went back and read your comments during the game, and I totally agree. The guy was pretty gutless last night. I know it's not his game to take the body, but on at least three occasions I saw him approach a Blues player on the boards. Rather than hit him, he skates by and jabs at the puck with his stick, trying to move it forward. It didn't work each time, and the Blues were able to keep the puck in the zone. He also didn't seem to carry the puck with any conviction, being taken right off several times.

Refs: Oh dear. First of all, at the end of the 2nd, which led to the 4-on-3 that the Blues scored on (I think), the Hawks player put a clean hit on someone. I can't remember who they were. Then Backes came in and mugged him badly. Obviously the Hawks had to retaliate. And Backes didn't even get a freaking penalty! There wouldn't have been any funny stuff if not for him, and we're the ones who ended up shorthanded. Unbelievable. The rest of the night, the refs called the game a bit too tight for a low-scoring game.

Overall, the guys just looked slow. Old Man Ladd looked particularly slow. Havlat didn't have any jump, and even Keith looked shaky. Aaron Johnson looked like he didn't belong on the ice. I shudder to think what the guys are going to have left in the tank tonight. I know we've talked about the ridiculous road trip before, but how about the swift kick in the balls of having to play a back-to-back to finish it up. Hopefully they will feed off the home crowd tonight.

Speaking of crowds, there were far fewer Hawks fans there last night than the last game here. But that one was a Saturday night. And we didn't really have anything to cheer about. The people around me were cool and surprisingly I didn't get any crap from anyone when we were leaving. I was prepared to say something about enjoying watching us in the playoffs.

Let's go get 'em tonight.

Nice post kujay. Obviously the refs were bad, but they weren't terrible, and they can't be blamed for the Hawks loss (even though the only goal of the game came off of a bogus call). The Hawks 110% deserved to lose... if you can't even score one goal you don't have a right to blame it on the refs.

Thank god for good goaltending... on the trip Khabi had a .950 SV% like 133/140 or something (most of those goals were the 4 he let in at Vancouver). Huet has played awesome lately.

I bet these kids are pissed, and I know Q was... can't wait to see them come out and dismantle the Stars tonight.

Kane's developing into a wuss. He better figure that out because nobody's going to let up on him just because he doesn't like being hit. Learn to deal with it kid.

The Blues are bad. It's distressing to see the Hawks wilt against them time & again. I hope this isn't a bad omen for the playoffs, because teams are going to try to manhandle us there, too.

The Blues are bad

9-4-3 in their last 16 games. They aren't that bad. Only 2 games under .500. Take out a 5 game losing streak when everyone was hurt and Legace was ass and they're a contender for a low playoff seed. Really, they are a talented team with a weird mix of youth and experience. No shame in losing to them.

And in the midst of all this [expletive] Kane bashing, maybe he isn't a wuss, he's just too small to take a full season's beating when people are gunning for him.

Believe me, I've been a Kane apologist since he broke into the league last year. But he's playing like crap offensively, and when you're doing that you need to contribute in other ways.

That hit where he layed on the ice doing his best play dead impression wasn't that hard... I'm a LITTLE bit bigger than Kane and have been hit harder than that and gotten up.

I also would rub people off the puck in my offensive zone during a PP when my team is down 1-0, unlike him. He is afraid of ANY contact.

The Blues have the 2nd lowest point total in the Western Conference. Maybe they do have some interesting players, but teams have been beating them pretty good this year. Sure, there's no shame in losing to any team once, maybe twice. But 4/5 times? Two shutouts in a row? Come on man, it's embarrassing for a team with playoff ambitions such as the Hawks.

The Blues play really hard, they are just overmatched on most nights due to injuries. And the Hawks grossly overmatch them. So yeah, it is embarassing. The Blues have gotten 9 out of 10 possible points against the Hawks this year. It's just a matter of the Hawks not working as hard as the Blues. Perhaps they don't adequately respect them because of their place in the standings. I don't know. But it shouldn't happen.

I agree they're not THAT bad, but 2 games under .500 in the NHL is pretty skewed due to OTLs. The Avalanche are only 5 games under .500 and they have the worst record in the conference. The Blues have the second worst record in the conference.

I'm not going to go into the ludicrous comparison of your playing experience and his, but suffice it to say it's hilariously irrelevant.

I was no where near at even 25% the level he is.

But getting hit into the boards by a 250 lb person hurts... you don't lay on the ice and play dead. The hit wasn't that hard.
