Wow. It never crossed though.

But a minor for DOG for knocking the net off, yeah?

Yea... that's what it should be. Wow... how did it NOT go in?

I'm not convinced... I will upgrade them to the Hocks... but they don't get their name back until they prove something over a period of time.

What do you guys think of using Hawks avatars for the Playoff run?

For instance, a common theme like this one:

http://www.geocities.com/relyt58/hawksavys/playoffs-huet.jpg

The avatar maker for the Hawks on HF boards is going to make one for everyone that was in that "Here come the Hawks Blackhawks Sing Along" song.

If you guys are down, I call dibs on Buff.

If you guys don't like that idea, maybe we can all just get the Indian Head as an avatar... just something to use to show the rest of the board that the Hawks are in the playoffs!

This is the second game in a row that Pat has mentioned right away that we'll be seeing Khabi a lot down the stretch here.

Hadn't read that anywhere else, but obviously I'm glad to hear it.

i know...he's been lights out since he came back

That's the link to the one I'm using. But if anyone has a better one or can PhotoShop it to put 2009 Playoffs that would be awesome.

Also, I demand that Kujay participates since he's never had an avatar!

I like my Havlat avatar because of my recently blossomed man crush on Martin Havlat.

I was always skeptical of that guy, but he's just so patient with the puck. That play between him and Sharp was a thing of beauty.

I'll be setting up the Hawks avatar.

Hooray for victories. Although I really hate WGN broadcasts. The lack of an HD option on directv completely detracts from the event. Hockey is the best HD sport, or at least the biggest beneficiary. Does LA not broadcast their games? This is the second Kings/Hawks game I got stuck watching on a non-HD feed. Most games give you 4 options, HD and non-HD for each team's network, but yesterday I had only the non-HD WGN feed.

Yeah, it sucked.

LA does broadcast their games on a RSN, but I think maybe yesterday's game was on an over-the-air channel. I've seen their broadcasts before on Center Ice.

EDIT: Actually, yesterday was just a no-TV game for the Kings. It's odd, but the Blues have had a few this year too.

What kind of backwoods professional sports organization would keep their team's games off of TV?

Wow, another too many men penalty.

I'm seeing a lot to like from this first period. I'm not even going to try to spell his name, but #4 is busting it out there. Great work. Sharp, Havlat, Buff, even Johnson looks good.

Now kill this one and keep it going.

Yea and Foley pisses me off every time he tries to pronounce it. Butchers the crap out of it.

Hjalmarsson... you don't pronounce the damn J!

Actually, the J is pronounced. He's played in Rockford for the better part of the past two seasons, and I listen to or attend just about every game. The announcers on the radio, and even the PA Announcer at the Rockford MetroCentre pronounces his name with the J... I'd assume that someone in the organization would correct the announcers if the name was being erroneously pronounced.

Sorry man, this is just incorrect...

Here is the Swedish pronounciation of "hjä´lpa":

http://www2.hhs.se/isa/swedish/9-74.wav

(NOTE: hjä´lpa is a perfect example to use. If you take the dots off the "ä" it is pronounced "yahl'pa" or how "yahlmarsson" is pronounced correctly. The ä makes the sound of a long "a" like in cat.)

When a "tj" or a "sj" come together it makes the "shhh" sound (See Frederik Sjöström - prounced Shoe-strum). The only time you even get close to the English "J" sound is in a word like "kjol"... but even then its a word most Americans can't pronounce on their palate as it puts the tongue in an awkward position on the roof of the mouth.

kjol - http://www2.hhs.se/isa/swedish/9-79.wav

Sorry to be nit picky, but I speak Swedish and Finnish ;)

I'm not discrediting your knowledge in any way shape or form... I'm just telling you how it's been pronounced by every member of the local media here, and by every employee of the Rockford IceHogs organization that I know!

Gotcha!

Well now at least you know the proper way to say it ;)

I have a good feeling about tonight's game. Just sayin'.

You're the second person who said the game was tonight... I was freaking out because I already had plans. Luckily I checked and it's tomorrow :)
