Khabi is playing very well tonight. Very aggressive...

Not to look too far ahead, but I just saw a promo a few minutes ago for the Hawks next game. At Phoenix. That should be interesting...

Wow, mics a bit close to the ice there. Burish has a foul mouth! :) Nice to see him jump in there though and protect Toews.

Again controlling the puck with the other team's goalie pulled.

20 for Sharpie! Gotta be an All-Star along with Keith.

Good night folks. It's almost like the last two games never happened...

Happy they got back on the right track

patrick sharp has 20 goals??? i can't even be pissed off that we traded him away; he never would've gotten off our bottom two lines.

I think they said during the game last night that his 20th came last year on New Years Day. So he's behind his pace.

The guy is solid. As I said last night, he has to be an All-Star. 6th in the league in scoring, though only 13 assists and an overall +1 on such a good team might hurt him.

Whispers are that Tallon is looking at Bill Guerin.

I watched him play a lot here in St. Louis a few years ago. He was really solid. 16 goals, 19 assists this year for a bad NYI team.

Thing is, I think we'd be giving up at least one, young current roster player to get him. I think I would judge this trade completely on what we're giving up. I think Guerin would be a great addition though.

The other thing is, with all these young guys, eventually (and not too long from now) they are going to have to let guys go because they won't be able to resign everybody. I would actually be fine with them trading some of the young talent. They can still keep the core. But you're probably going to see Havlat walk, and big extensions for both Toews and Kane soon. Then there's a question about Sharp and some of the defenseman, and they already have a big contract for Campbell. The new agreement makes it harder to keep young guys around at really cheap rates like in baseball.

On the other hand, I didn't even know Billy Guerin was still in the league. I feel like guys that were veterans when I played NHL96 in college should be retired.

Who you think Buff again?

Probably. But JCF is right. The decision on who to offer in any trade will have as much to do with the salary cap as anything else. They need to clear a few of these mid-level guys. And again, not to beat a dead horse, but they are seriously hamstrung by all the money they have tied up in goaltenders. If Tallon hadn't signed Huet, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

Is he in the same boat with Kane and Toews on needing an extension soon?

They are only hamstrung for this year, not going forward. It's really not a big deal, especially when they are getting high quality performance at that position.

Right, but the problem is they are getting high-level performance from the guy whose contract is expiring.

I'm not ready to write off Huet, and perhaps he'll get hot. But I just have no confidence in the guy.

Yeah, well they weren't getting high level performance from Khabi until his contract was coming up. Huet has been pretty good.

18th in GAA, 22nd in save %. I wouldn't call that good, let alone pretty good.

What was that before New Years? He had a bad start, but I thought he was playing well until the Winter Classic.

I felt like for a least a small stretch he played really really well, but that might have only been a handful of games

I don't know how to look up what his stats were before or after a particular game, but on November 19th I posted that Huet's GAA was 2.95 and his save % was .900. Not it's 2.55 and .910. So he's improved.

I think he takes bad angles, flops, is slow from post to post and isn't good playing the puck. Obviously I don't think we've seen him at his best yet. I really do look forward to that. But for now Khabi should be starting every night.
