I missed the game...what happened to Theriot?

He fouled the ball very hard off what looked like his heel. He then limped around for a bit, finished the at bat, but grounded out and was not at full speed when he ran to first

Posted
I may have missed it but have they had any updates on Theriot?

I'm pretty sure they just took him out for precautionary reasons, I think if there was anything really wrong with him they wouldn't have let him finish the AB.

Who would've thought we'd all be concerned about Ryan Theriot being hurt?

I was actually about to point out the opposite. How it was funny nobody had posted a thing about Theriot being pulled, other than a lurker in the post game thread out of nowhere. If it had been Harden or Ramirez or Soto or basically anyone else, there probably would've been a thread up immediately.

Just kind of funny.

I challenge anyone to find a more fun inning that early in the game in the past five years or so.

What inning was the explosion against the Sox?

I was at that one.

The 9 spot the Cubs put up against Contreras and company in the 4th a month or two back was a lot of fun also. It's hard to say which one was better.

He ran OK, but not at 100%, he played defense the next inning. Im not too worried. I do think they should have taken him out immediatly with the 7 run lead however.

After Jason Marquis' double to put runners on second and third, Len Kasper noted that Mike Quade held Geovany Soto at third because it wasn't a good risk so early in the ball game. Bob Brenly then said something to the effect of, "Plus, you don't want to take the bat out of this guys hands." No sooner did he say that than Alfonso Soriano parked the Brandon Backe pitch into the left field bleachers.

Pretty cool.

Brenly actually said, "This is why you don't send Soto," seconds before Soriano swung.

You are correct. Thank you for having a better memory than I.

It was amazing because Brenly barely had the words out of his mouth when Soriano made contact.
