Pujols is actually a very good fielder. He just hits so damn well, people tend to ignore his fielding.

Pujols is actually a very good fielder. He just hits so damn well, people tend to ignore his fielding.

 

He won because DLee got injured (broken wrist) in 2006. Often times the vote goes to the previous year's winner, or the better known defensive player, so it was most likely Lee's to lose if he'd stayed healthy. Without looking it up, I think DLee won the GG in both '05 & '07.
