ryan doumit's BABIP has to be like .400 this year... i don't know what the hell has gotten into him.

.347 BABIP in 08

that's not as high as i would've expected, actually. he's a really good fastball hitter; i guess his defense sucks, but when your catcher is OPS'ing over .900 you don't really worry about that.

Out of curiosity, why is Kosuke in a virtual platoon? Do think Lou is only giving him starts vs. RHP in order to get his bat going again, or is this something that he's going to be doing the rest of the year? $12 million for a platoon player seems stupid.

.739 OPS vs lhp. if the cubs can get better production against lefties with him on the bench, it would be stupid to keep him in the lineup just because of how much he gets paid, come on dude.

Yeah and who are they replace him with in the lineup? Ronny Cedeno and his .689 OPS vs. LHP

That's a good point. I always forget the Ronny has reverse splits.

so does lou.

although i'm cool with ronny/fontenot getting spot starts to keep theriot and derosa fresh for october.

I'm going to be fake angry that Lee has a high slugging with bases empty

Yay for Derrek, he only has one actual at bat today with 4 plate appearances

They have a guy do this every year. Sanchez was really good one year too. Wilson had a decent year. If he stays that good they will just trade him away.

They should have traded Jack Wilson like 4 years ago, now he's basically worthless and has a bloated contract

Thats well, thats a good inning for Howry

That's Bob Howry + Pirates offense

Bob Howry + most other offenses = 2 or more runs

Aren't the Pirates right behind (or close to) the Cubs in runs scored? I know Bay and Nady are gone but they still can score. I'll give Bob the credit for keeping them from scoring.

Their pitchers too with Snell, Duke, Oliver Perez, now possibly Maholm. Really weird team those Pittsburgh Pirates.

Didn't Rammy hit one yesterday that hooked foul?

Lets all congratulate Lee for a stolen base when he should have easily walked to second if we didn't have Aramis swinging at anything

I'm going to have to check the replay, but that looked like a straight steal.

44 runs behind coming into today. And it was the heart of the Pirates order too.

Even dumber

Someone send Lou an e-mail begging him to stop sending runners

Straight steal on a 3-2 count.

Eh, it was a decent move on Lee's part. Beam never checked him and he got a running lead.

Our offense has been really bizarre today, still not very encouraged.

I just want to beat up the Pirates normally, can we do that again?

EDIT: I demand a 9-0 beatdown with Z on the mound tomorrow
