Sinatro suspended 2 games

First base coach Matt Sinatro of the Chicago Cubs has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions, which included making contact with Umpire Rob Drake, in the bottom of the ninth inning of his Club's Saturday, July 26th game against the Florida Marlins at Wrigley Field. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. Sinatro will begin to serve his suspension tonight, when the Cubs play at Milwaukee's Miller Park.

 

In addition, Cubs manager Lou Piniella has received an undisclosed fine for his role in the same incident with Umpire Drake.

I get that players and coaches are going to get suspended when things like this happen. But just once, I'd like to see an ump suspended for misconduct.

I thought the ump had a pretty bad attitude in this case.

It's completely ridiculous that he made slight, accidental contact with the umpire and he's suspended for 2 games.

You could see the ump try to make it into a huge deal when it happened too. Had to see this coming, but that doesnt make it right.

I thought Lou would be suspended for his contact as well. Thankfully he got off on what was pretty clearly an accident.

At the very least, MLB needs to tell Drake to button up his shirt.

It was a questionable call, no doubt. But, as far as I'm concerned Blake gets no quarter. He's clearly insecure with his calls and he acts like he's a petty tyrant tasting power for the first time after decades of being bullied.
