I always smile when I see him behind home plate though. Dunno why.

If his group wins, feel bad for every unattached single person in the office especially the women who are the same age as his sons.

;)

I didn't say I wanted him owning the team...I just like him being there.

I'm still pulling for Cuban...and I know you have your connections and such, and not to be dismissive, but I haven't heard anything that makes me think he doesn't have a shot at this point.

Especially if Kenney and other Cubs people are "sucking up" to him in hopes that he'd keep them around. They must think he has a legitimate enough chance.

George Offman is reporting on the Score that Cuban's bid was the highest. That Cuban says he "won't be outbid", and that there's a school of thought that MLB will allow him to buy, because they're afraid that Cuban and the Tribune Co. would sue MLB, and that it could threaten their anti-trust exemption.

Awesome news. I get giddy thinking about Cuban owning this team.

Does Cuban have a group or is he sole owner. I know he got 2 billion for selling broadcast.com, but is he willing to dump 50 percent of his worth into a baseball team?

That would be pretty cool. From a fan's perspective, Cuban is probably the closest to a sure thing in regards to increasing payroll without a risk of a significant drop and, more importantly, changing the way this organization thinks.

I'm sure you've been asked a million times, Banedon, but where'd you find that pic of Cuban and is there a larger version of it somewhere?

Um...I think it was in an article I read a long time ago...I might have a larger version...I'll post it later tonight or tomorrow for ya...

You're the first to ask btw.

I honestly have no idea.

This wording

http://www.reuters.com/article/ousivMolt/idUSN2328665720080724

Advancing:

Mark Cuban

Andrew Mursten (Sports Properties Acquisition Corp) - teaming up with another of the approved bidder groups, according to one of the sources, who declined to identify the group

Tom Ricketts (Incapital LLC)

Michael Tokarz (MVC Capital Inc MVC.N) - the Tokarz group includes Fred Malek, who previously bid on the baseball team in Washington.

Makes me think it's just Cuban, or that he has the vast majority of the stake.

Wikipedia says Cuban has a net worth of 2.8 billion.

I wouldn't be surprised if he puts the Mavericks up for sale if he's able to buy the Cubs.

That would be my guess. I'm sure he would also start some kind of Cubs channel on his HDNET station.

My wording was taken from the Reuters story which might be incomplete. This is what they said: "While Tribune and baseball officials declined to comment, three sources said Internet billionaire Mark Cuban, owner of the National Basketball Association Dallas Mavericks..."

I found this copy of Banedon's avatar.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, thanks Vance. And I'm surprised I'm the only one who has asked, Banedon. I've been looking at that picture for about a year now always wondering where it came from and never bothered asking cause I figured you get asked all the time

I asked this before and didn't get an answer so I'll ask again and hope that it hasn't been repeated a lot... but, when might we expect to hear the new ownership announced?

Dang. I was hoping there was a chance it might be within a couple of weeks.
