wait, all this outrage and offense over "What's the lucky groom's name?"

i shudder to think of your guys reactions if you were ever on any HS sports teams, listening to the typical banter

Bob Sanders beat me to the punch for the first time ever! ;)

In this case, there's been a pattern of jokes that either border on or simply are homophobic. It's against board guidelines, and it's better to address that clearly than cause confusion. It's not just one joke or one comment.

i dont know how you read my quote and interpreted my message as such. purposefully acting dense?

you're the one calling us overly sensitive for not liking the joke. who is being dense again?

We threw around the gay jokes all the time when Edmonds played elsewhere and the admins never did anything about them. It would be very two-faced to start editing now that he wears Cubbie blue.

Actually, we did start doing something before now, and it is in the Member Guidelines. It may not have been consistent and not everyone may agree, but that's the board policy now.

they weren't funny then either.

two-faced?

I think we should start a petition to protect people's right to make gay jokes about Cubs players.

I spent all of my time in my mom's basement. the occasional joke over being Izturised is one thing, this is beating a dead horse. Edmonds gay jokes have been tossed around more than Paris Hilton and haven't been funny for quite a while now. it's a tired old unoriginal act.

and paris hilton jokes are still hilarious and fresh.

What makes it funny back in the locker room is you do it to the guys face. Its not really funny when you call a teammate gay and the guys not there to be made fun of. Its also not funny when it is brought up or said 10 times a day which is about the rate this board has been producing. Not much the mods can do if all there is is hollow threats. Either start suspending or just accept some people never mature past the age of 5.

Derwood, if I didn't know that you were married with a kid, I'd think you were gay. You're always the first to pop in when a comment like the one earlier is made.

Not that there's anything wrong with it... just saying.

Careful: your prejudices are showing.

FWIW, I did a lot of my design work for arguably the biggest Gay/Lesbian theatre company in the country (cue the "aren't they all gay?" joke, har har). A lot of that work was with gay teenagers. So yeah, call me a gay sympathizer or whatever.
