And Jon's boy Yohan Gonzalez is now pitching.

I hope Ryan Acosta is healthy enough to move up to Boise or Peoria soon.

He had a very nice curveball and some decent movement on his fastball, which was around 88-91, when I saw him. If he can add some velocity, he'll be a good prospect. For now he strikes me as a future middle relief type who can rack up some good K numbers.

Tennessee won 8-0. Mitch Atkins solid again: 7.1 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 3 K/1 BB. Colvin went 4/5 with a double and a strikeout, Castillo went 1/4 with a BB and a K. Fox and Reynolds each HRed.

Daytona lost 7-4. Hung-Wen Chen: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 K/1 BB, 3 HR. Tony Thomas went 0/3 and struck out twice.

Marquez Smith just hit a long HR to break a scoreless tie in the 7th inning. It's his 14th HR of the season.

Siegfried with a good game in the spot start: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 K/0 BB.

Argh, Josh Donaldson robbed at the wall of extra bases.

The wall of extra bases sounds like a fun minor league promotion

reading backwards (from last post up) in this thread proved to be quite funny, because I had no idea what this was.

Ridling just hit his 4th HR.

Something tells me he's not staying in Boise for long.

this is the same cub organization that left soto at iowa most of last year and has basically never moved matt craig past AA. don't be so sure.

leverton had a 2.5 GB/FB ratio coming into this one and has 5 ground outs to 0 fly outs so far. wonder if he is supposed to have a good sinker... that is my new fetish, pitchers with moderate k-rates but good control and a heavy sinker.

You must be ga-ga for Justin Berg.

his control is pretty lousy. i'm talking more in the derek lowe, chien-ming wang vein.

So, now that Hill has had a good outing in AZ, how many more starts in the AZL before he's moved up a bit?
I want him to get one more start for Mesa, and if that's another good outing maybe it will be time to move him back to Iowa and hope he can continue. I'm trying not to get overly excited over one start, but it's hard not to since this is the first time he's given us a reason to in quite some time.

C comes up to talk to the pitcher, pitcher smiles. Josh Vitters then comes up and gets hits by the first pitch square in the back. Pretty darn obvious.

what was it for?

either way, bean them back. in minor league baseball there's no excuse NOT to get into a beanball war.

The announcer thinks it's because Vitters went 3/3 yesterday. Seems strange as he didn't even hit a HR.

Since when do guys get beamed for going 3-3 in a Short Season game? That's pretty lame.

No kidding. And he's already 0/2 today.

He raised the AVG last night, so he had to work on the IsoD tonight.
