It's going to take me awhile to get over this loss. A normal loss stings me from about 20 mins - 2 hours depending on the importance of the game. I don't think I'll be right for the rest of the day.

Yet the win last night was no big deal. the doom and gloom around here is so pathetic.

Doom and gloom? Jesus we just lost a soul crushing game. Who the hell isn't really upset right now? This has nothing to do with perspective and the grand scheme of things

Why is a road win over the team directly below us in the standings no big deal, but a loss is a soul crushing experience?

When did I ever say that? If you are referring to last night I said that when we were up 2-1 in the 9th inning that losing this game would be more devistating than winning this game would be awesome to me. It was a big deal. I enjoyed it.

If we win its a decent win...if we lose its a horrible horrible devistating loss.

Not much to gain here

I didn't get to watch the game because of the stupid, indefensible Fox blackout, so I was stuck with following it on Gameday. It didn't have the same impact as it would have if I was actually watching the carnage on TV.

I stand by my last post. Thanks for taking the time to look it up though. I don't understand why you're so obsessed with my pessimism, but I guess its flattering.

it was at the end of last night's game thread, it wasn't like i was digging through hidden files or anything. The Cubs are in first place and you're easily the most pathetic member of the stupid woe is us club. im just cutting the head off the snake.

Congrats on yet another attack of an nsbb poster.

If you look through my posts you'll see that 95% of my pessmistic posts are within 20 minutes of any Cubs game. I'm actually pretty level headed the rest of the time. (although I'm sure you'll soon look up my posts to make sure and find 1-2 outliers and decide to post them) There are much worse than me, but again I'm flattered that you notice my posts, the great IMB!

Just for the record, I was so pumped by the win yesterday that I hooked my nipples up to the cars batteries. After which I ran around the yard naked for hours. Thus I don't think I can overreact about this loss.

Yeah, for the most part. But I was at a buddies house this time. He loved it.

I was thinking "why did it have to be Ankiel that beat us?" But then I realized that Pujols and Glaus are the only ones that wouldn't make me think "wtf, how did that happen."

They ran the guantlet of crap up there. Kennedy, Skippy, and Miles. Yet they still won. Pretty unreal.

It's what they've been doing all soapdropping year.

162 games.

Woody is going to blow some saves, everyone does. And it was definitely a tough pill to swallow, but it's certainly not the end of the world.

Bottom line is that the cubs still have the best record in the NL and a win tomorrow would take 2 of 3 on the road vs. the second place team (and back to a fairly comfortable 3.5 gm lead).

I was as pissed off as anybody right after it happened, but you can't let that feeling linger. I guarantee the cubs players don't, they're too good of a team.

So do any of our resident stat masters have Woods record when he walks or hits the leadoff guy?

Sure, that's easy, I know that stat without even looking it up: irrelevant.

So there's no correlation between wildness and giving up runs?
