If we can pick him up, we could send Marmol back to the minors and let JoBo take over the high-leverage situations as Wood's chief setup man.

JoBo is a proven closer, so he could take over if/when Wood gets hurt, and his time spent as a Cub means he knows how to take advantage of the park's strengths and weaknesses.

I could see the Rays picking up Borowski. They would not have to trade any prospects to get added relief help and he could close until Percival returns. If Borowski still struggles then no big loss.

I really don't know if that was a joke or not.

Joe Borowski throws 85 with his fastball. End of argument.

You should have used sarcastic green. Some people might actually think you're being serious. :D

I don't look at how hard a guy throws. I look at if he can get hitters out. JoBo no longer can, so I will also pass on him.

Velocity is simply a detail if a pitcher can get hitters out.

Duly noted.

Please tell me there are some people left on this board who are wishing the guy well. The dudes been through a ton to get to where he is, and it's a sad story if it ends here.

All the best JoBo. I always enjoyed watching him pitch, and he seemed like he got the absolute most he could have possibly gotten with his talent. Anyone with his history (plucked out of the Mexican leagues, then 33 saves in 2003 for the Cubs and 36 and 45 the last 2 years) deserves a round of applause. =D>

It would be a sad end to his career. But knowing Joe, he would not want anybody to feel bad about how his career ends, if this is indeed the end.

I don't even think you have to feel sad. Something tells me Joe Borowski the kind of guy to look back on 131 big league saves, 450+ innings thrown, retirement at 37, and $10 mil plus made with no tears. More of a "raise the glass" type of moment...

If he wants to hit the gym and hopes he gets a call, best of luck. If he decides that's just about enough and retires, enjoy it Joe. Thanks for '02 and 0'3...no hard feelings about '04 :)
