This is almost certainly going to be a very good year to watch the All Star Game as a Cubs fan. In my estimation, we have a minimum of five All Stars. Soto, Fukudome, and Soriano are locks considering they're going to be starting. I'd consider Woody a lock. One of Ryan Dempster or Carlos Zambrano will make it. Aramis has a shot, but I think his slump and then time off will cost him. However, that leaves us with seven realistic All Star candidates...

Woody

Z

Dempster

Soriano

Soto

Fukudome

Aramis

I'm guessing we end up with five, with Aramis and Dempster being the odd men out. It wouldn't be shocking to see six. It would be very shocking to see seven.

Definit: Soto, Soriano

Likely: Zambrano, Ramirez(the only way Id see him left out is if Wright is given the nod as the sole Met rep, and they dont want a 3rd 3B)

Possible: Wood, Dempster, Fukudome

Aramis probably isn't going this year. Based on their numbers right now, I can't see him being chosen over Wright and there are usually just two 3B on the rosters. Of course, if he has a great next few games then he could have a shot.

Aramis just took 3 days off to visit family in the DR, when he wanted even more. I can almost guarantee that he will not be in NY for the game, he won't even be in the country.

I thought Chipper was going to the DL? If that's the case, wouldn't the next person with the most votes take his place? Then both Aramis and Wright would make it.

Regardless of whether Chipper is going to the DL, I can't imagine he won't take the opportunity to rest up.

Not necessarily. Injury replacements are named by the manager, not by fan voting.

My guesses: Soto, Soriano, and Wood are definitely in. Fukudome depends on the voting (last I knew it was close). Dempster and Zambrano both deserve it based on their performances for the year, but I think at least one of them will be left out because of the requirement of at least one player per team. Ramirez is certainly playing like an All-Star, but as others pointed out he's probably third in the pecking order, so if only two 3B are chosen he's likely odd man out. And he might not mind that. If the rumor that his absence is due to the birth of his child he might want to go back home and spend more time with the family anyway (he'd have 4 days this time since the Cubs are off the Thursday after the All-Star Game).

That's probably it, maybe Fukudome and A-Ram. Those hoping for Theriot will probably be let down.

The only way I could say Theriot coming close to the All-Star game is if he makes the 32nd player voting and then somehow gets voted in that way.

I see it as more likely though that one of the others gets left to the 32nd man vote, if it be Ramirez, Fukudome, or Dempster.
