gallagher to the bullpen, which was likely to happen anyway with lou's fascination with tinkering with the rotation. sharpen up his pitch selection and limit him to short relief, he'll be more successful than he was in long relief.

wait why is lou a moron now?

Because Carlos gave up a 3 run HR. Duh.

oh yeah that's right. i'm glad people pointed out what a poor move it was before the home run, rather than waiting around to see what would happen and then bashing him after the negative outcome.

Personally, I didn't think it was a bad decision. Marmol looked good against the first two batters last night. Then had his trouble. Lou gave him a chance to redeem last night and he fell behind Aurellia and Aurellia knew what was coming. Marmol needs to learn not to fall behind hitters especially with runners on base. In hindsight, Rothchild should have gone out here and spoke to him.

its almost cute watching the Giants fans act like they just won game 7 of the world series every time their miserable team gets a hit. It must be nice to have such simple goals.

It's not the players' fault that their GM can't assemble a good team.

Who blamed the players? They wasted big bucks on Zito. end of story.

Didn't he say he was going to ease Marmol slowly back into high leverage situations spots? So he puts him in in a 1 run game with guys at first and third with no outs, after getting bombed the night before. He asically was saying "we need a strike out right now. nothing else will do. No pressue though!"

And then he pulls him after 1 batter, leaving him confidence at an all-time low. Well played.

Where did Lou say that? I haven't seen that quote at all.

I don't know about the rest of you, but splitting with the Giants, to me is as good as a lost series

Umm, why? Despite what people want to believe, the Giants aren't THAT bad. Considering we were without Ramirez, Soriano, and Zambrano I don't think it's at all terrible that we split the series, only losing to Cain and Lincecum. It would have been nice to take 3 of 4, but a split isn't the worst thing in the world, especially when the Brewers split with the D-backs and the Cards might split with the Mets minus Santana.

I don't know why, but I've got a feeling this is going to be a fun weekend at St. Louis.

Sabean's obsession with older vets is/was the biggest problem. The Zito signing just added to the problem, imo.

I must be the only one who think that Lou's incessant use of Marmol in April, May and early June is now coming back to bite the team.

How bad was Marmol missing on his sliders to start the at bat? On Gamecast they looked to be right on the corner and at the knees.

There goes Brenly with tipping pitches again ...

It's plausible.

That every team besides the Cubs knows something about Marmol the Cubs don't know?

The problem was when the relied on Bonds and his home run record chase just to fill the seats and surrounded him with mediocre players, and when his era came to an end, they were surpirsed they didnt have a team anymore.

Marmol's first pitch was just outside of the strike zone, but the second pitch was probably at least a foot outside.

what did he say about it?

That when someone goes from being so good to so bad that fast, Rothschild should be in the video room looking at tape to see if Marmol is doing something to tip his pithces.

My fault, I misread it. I thought you were making fun of the Giants players for celebrating.

Still though, it's not the fans fault that Sabean is an idiot.

Thanks. I havent been able to watch any games lately, but from everything ive read it seems like he cannot get the slider over lately, so no one is swinging at it and letting it go for a ball. Any major league baseball player can mash against anyone if all they have to do it sit on the fastball (especially ahead in the count). Seems more plausible than tipping pitches, but who knows.

I'm not saying that's it or that it's highly likely but it happens.
