News: Hill had an awful start for the Cubs Rookie League team in Arizona on Tuesday and might just get shut down indefinitely, the Arlington Daily Herald reports.

Spin: Hill went one-third of an inning, giving up five runs (four earned) on a hit, three walks and a hit batter. "They've actually discussed that; it might be just best to shut him down totally," manager Lou Piniella said. "I don't know if that's going to happen, but it's been discussed, yes. It's a shame, it really is. This came out of nowhere this spring and fed on itself. The amazing thing is about it is I never even realized he had a problem. I just saw him last year, and he pitched so well. Last spring, he never walked a hitter."

God damnit. Let's put the fact that I drafted Hill in fantasy based on his stellar control and high K rates. Let's just look at the fact that we SHOULD have had a solid #2/3 pitcher IN HIS PRIME instead of the controlless mess he's been. I sincerely hope Rich Hill isn't the next Rick Ankiel or Steve Blass. []. Can't we just have last year's rotation again, minus Marquis, plus dempster pre-June 26. Grr.

Also, does ANYONE but me fear Dempster has 2007 Marquis syndrome -- a sub-mediocre career pitcher who goes on a tear for half a season? Hm...something is fishy. Maybe it's just the glove flutter

Quick side note: How does ankiel hit the 3B with TWO strikes from dead center when he cant hit anything but a batter from 60 ft away??? I'm STILL baffled

I'm pretty sure the forum bleeped those out. It just didn't recognize the word with "ity" at the end.

Pretty funny.

This is sad..It's like playin bags,bowling,whatever..Just lose your stroke..But seems he just completely lost it for good. But the talent we couldve gotten for him when other GM's wouldve gave big for hi is gone now.. :(

If it's a confidence issue, why not have him visit a team-friendly physician and "invent" an injury? Even it's BS, it gives him time off and a plausible (to Hill) excuse for his struggles. Way too early to Ankielize him.

This might be an even more PRODIGIOUS collapse than Rick Ankiel. Not as high-profile, but it's totally mind-boggling. Edited by Tyrant

Mixing and matching adjectives is fun

What? "Collapse" is a noun.

Yes. You should probably look up "prolific" in the dictionary. It makes absolutely no sense to describe a collapse as prolific.

Another reason we need another starter. Come on CC. I saw this coming, seemed like a lot of people completely expected him to come back and throw in the majors this year and be a productive pitcher. I just don't see it happening and have not seen it happening for awhile.

Anyone got the batting stats CC has? I don't know why but for some reason, I am worried that he would get hurt running the bases like a guy named Wang.

Naw. All he needs is a Jamaican vacation. Get his mind off baseball for an extended period. He has what I think is the equivalent of writers block.

You're right here. I meant to use "prodigious" and I ended up getting the words mixed up. Haven't had my coffee yet this morning.

I will go back and edit the post, as I want this particular Internet forum to uphold the highest standards of grammar and usage.

P.S. Regardless, you're kind of an [expletive].

And yet you're the one with the personal attack. Stop it.

Now we're going to have to suspend you for attacking yourself. ;)

Bu please ... heed Banedon's advice.

If they do shut down Hill, what are the rostering options? Can they put him on the 60-day DL?

Please listen as you might get shut down even before Rich Hill does.

Maybe we can convert him into a power-hitting outfielder with a cannon.
